ActiveRain RainCamp in Washington, DC. It's about a whole lot more than just points...

Today was my 2nd RainCamp. I attended in New Your City in January. I learned LOTS, kind of think I've forgotten a bunch, and listened to & met some amazing people. It was an awesome day!

I came to RainCamp again Washington, DC today for a refresher. I heard much of the same information andRaincamp at Gallaudet University, Washington DC June 2010LOTS of new stuff, too.  Just as the social media scene and what works changes, so does the RainCamp content.

As with the first RainCamp, I've come away again today with a greater appreciation of my potential - and an excitement toward growing.  I've been given a great set of tools and now it's up to me to put them to good use. Time to check on my Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other accounts. Localism. Longtails. SEO. So many websites. Video. wow... Time to revisit lead generation tools and CRM for follow-up.  It's mind boggling to me.  Some things will fit better than others, but it's amazing how it seems most of the best are reasonably priced - many are free. The time I'll save with today's suggestions is immeasurable. I need to stop just lurking (although I learn so much more than I could share by doing that), leaving a few comments, and begin to create posts with good content - and the proper mix of juice!  Comfort with it will follow they say.

Of all the things I came away with again today, I think the feeling that really hits home the most is that of  ActiveRain being a caring community of real people.  I am new to (and not good at) blogging, but as I'm heading home on the Acela (exciting in itself!) I feel compelled to share. Kind of mushy, I know, but very true. The ActiveRain platform is about building relationships with our buyers, our sellers, our peers and ActiveRain Raincamp at Gallaudet University, Washington DCthe professionals we work with based on trust, honesty, sharing knowledge and just caring. It's about being comfortable at the end of the day having done the right things. Being comfortable can only lead to bigger and better things for all involved. 

I chatted with Doug, Kerrie, and Brad. I heard about great things from Bob & Ben. These people are SO dedicated! So real!  Many more shared stories and ideas during the presentations, breaks and at lunch. All are very real people. They really care. As Brad shared - I too feel closer to some of the ActiveRain online friends than I do neighbors on my home block.

I know I still have a long way to go to "get it" and actually begin to get comfortable using most of the information provided.  I also know that ActiveRain is the place to be!
