Do you Google yourself?

I think it goes without saying by now we all know  that what we put on the internet stays on th internet(and not necessarily in the "Vegas Way").  Vegas may keep what happens in Vegas but the stuff on the internet can be accessed anywhere! 

One of the easiest and least time consuming ways to check on your internet rep is to Google yourself.  It is important to make sure that the stuff that pops up on the first page of Google is stuff you want out there.  It is also important to make sure that you, and not someone else with your name, are the main topic on Google page number 1. 

Why is this important?  Well, if you get a lead and the prospect is someone who doesn't know you from Adam, chances are they might just Google you to check you out.

I find it very interesting that I am the topic on 7 of the 10 sites that pop up on page one AND of the 7, 3 are Active Rain pages!  I do need to increase my online activityand make sure that my content is rich and useful because to be honest, I will not be happy until I dominate page one of Google!  I also want to make sure that my potential clients can get a good picture of who I am and what I do just by googling me!

I'm with you. I can't help but google my own name once in a while in a combination of configurations...just trying to figure out how my name might come up if a client is looking for an agent in my area. This keeps me constantly changing my 'tags' as I post blogs and so on.
