Tornado Sirens accompany large, black storm clouds in Denver Metro area

For the past hour, we have been watching the skies grow dark with large, black storm clouds rapidly blowing in from the southwest.  Before the heavy rains started, I managed to take a few photos of the fast moving clouds. Sirens started about ten minutes ago and we are under a tornado watch....other areas are getting heavy hail - news photos look like heavy snow!

Hi Emelyn - There sure is a lot of turbulence and drama in those clouds. Hopefully the show stays overhead and there is no local damage. Stay safe!

No swirling yet, but you can see them starting to reach downward. Down here, we can see the weather changing into tornado weather, from miles away. The sky changes color, it gets very quiet, and you can see the clouds changing their formations. Oh, and my cats hide under the beds. My own personal weather forecasters.

John - the clouds put on a quite a show. Had very heavy rains here and this morning, it is still coming down.

Lisa - the swirling started after the clouds passed over us and several tornados and funnel clouds developed as well as heavy hail.

Emelyn, those are great shots of the clouds, I hope that you can escape the tornados!  No one needs one of those!

Tony, we were spared but surrounding neighborhoods weren't so lucky. Lots of hail and 3 tornadoes actually touched down east of Denver.  It is still raining and more thunderstorms and heavy rains predicted for later today.
