I first saw Tiger Woods back in 2005 when he played at the US Open Golf Championship in Pinehurst. I was standing behind hole #1 and Tiger Woods overshot the hole. Honestly, I thought his ball was going to hit me. Instead I was
within 5 feet of this great champion. It is a memory that I will never forget.
Being the entrepreneuial professional that Tiger Woods is, he has set his sites on developing golf courses using his own designs. The first is being designed in the hot area of Dubai, which is a long way away from North Carolina. On the other hand, Tiger has targeted my home state of North Carolina for his second golf course. Specifically, Tiger has chosen one of my favorite towns - Asheville. Tiger announced his plans on Tuesday at a press conference indicating the course would be located in The Cliffs of High Carolina.
Its not surprising that Tiger has targeted North Carolina. Freddie Couples recently designed a course right outside of Chapel Hill in my region called Chapel Ridge that opened in 2006. Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player have all designed golf courses for developments throughout Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina, including Buncombe, Henderson and Polk counties.
The Cliffs of High Carolina will be located at 208 Patton Cove Road off Interstate 40 at the Swannanoa exit east of Asheville. The Cliffs at High Carolinawill be built in three phases on 2,500 acres that covers land in Swannanoa and Fairview. The golf course will be situated in the Phase II section in Fairview.
We're really looking forward to this great addition to our community.
Hi Tracy:
I posted the same information yesterday and received no comments which surprised me...I agree with you, a big addition to the WNC Real Estate boom. Swannanoa used to be referred to as 'Swannanowhere'...and EPA questionable as there had been several manufacturing concerns in the area in the past...no longer!
'Swannasomewhere' now!!!
