Claudette Circle SignMy Favorite Street in Framingham - Massachusetts

The town of Framingham has a number of different sections and areas that make up its 26 square miles.

Framingham Center is the physical center of town and is steeped in history.  The significant buildings include Edgell Memorial Library, the Greek Rival Temple, the Framingham Village Hall and the dashing Civil War Soldier guards the area. The town green itself is the site of band concerts during the summer months.

The area known as The Golden Triangle has most of the commerce and places to shop for just about anything, including Jordan's Furniture and Shopper's World.  It is one of the largest shopping district in New England.  Some excellent restaurants are also located along this strip, namely, Legal Seafood, Skip Jack and Ken's Steakhouse.

The north part of town includes the village of Nobscot, Pinefield, Ridgefield and Saxonville. These areas that are home to some very desirable real estate along with some lovely neighborhoods that lead directly up to the town of Sudbury.

In the area to the west is Salem End Road which is rich in the history surrounding the Salem Witch trials and borders on the Framingham Country Club.  From this location commuting is a breeze since it takes you directly to Mass Pike within minutes.

Downtown Framingham is located between the "Y"  shaped traffice circle formed at the intersection known as Memorial Square. Route 135 connects to Ashland from the west and Wellesley to the east and is the site of the Framingham MBTA station. A number of Brazilian and Spanish ships and restaurants, the town hall and library, police department as well as the Social Security Aministration building dominate this part of town.

But my favorite street is located just off of Edgell Road in North Framingham not far from the Millwood Farms Golf Club.

I have no idea what the history is surrounding this byway.  My only hope is that it was named after a very nice person.

Sounds like a great town. It must be nice to have a street named after you.  ;-)

Thanks for the tour. From a historical perspective it reminds me of the wonderful towns surroundingConcord, MA. I used to work for Digital Equipment Corp. in Maynard, MA, so I have spent many hours touring the area surrounding Framingham as well. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

That is a coinicidence, Claudette.  It's not a common name.  Had to be a French immigrant maybe?

John:

Yes, Framingham has some nice areas, a lot of history and it's a great place for shopping and restaurants.  Did they name that street after me?  I am not sure about that.

David:

I remember the Digital days. So, you went from working in high tech to becoming a Realtor? That was my former background as well.

Jane:

Maybe she was from France or, perhaps, like my family, from Canada.  It is a name you do not hear much anymore - but I like that.

Claudette:  I'm thinking I'll never find a "Chris Ann Drive" as long as I live.  Must be neat to see your name on street sign.

If I ever see a "Chris Ann Drive" I promise to snap a photo and send it to you.  It's great having a unique name - people either totally remember you, or totally forget you.

Looks like a great street.  Have you ever been tempted to take one of the signs?

Richard:

Ah, but that would be breaking the law and I really do not look good in stripes.

Actually, I would not mind having one of those sign if one fell into my lap.
