I'm going to toss some thoughts out here because members here at ActiveRain cover a large demographic.
I'd like to get some input from some of the long-timers who once only knew legacy marketing, vice more modern marketing approaches we have available at our disposal today.
The thought ran across my mind the other day that maybe we are re-inventing the wheel? Really ask ourselves, are we? How did real estate agents get by successfully in the past without computers and the Internet?
I think that some of the marketing approaches used back "pre-tech" were probably very refined and effective. I am curious how many agents still use those dying marketing strategies when put up against the new wave of modern technologies?
Then this question came to me.... "Eventually, wont all agents make the shift over to social media and modern business models?"
I think that technology is great. In fact, I would love to be 100% social media if possible. But, I cannot get my brain to get on-board with the practicability of it.
Legacy vs. Technology, that is the battle of the future. Myself, always looking for the edge, I would shift to 100% legacy approaches if I knew the majority shifted to social media. I want to be in the minority, where the competition is lower. Well, that is one way to look at it.
So, where is the balance between legacy and modern day marketing?
Does anyone still maintain a legacy marketing strategy out there?! Part of me would imagine it would be highly effective do to the shift of agents going tech! I would love to hear if my theory is right or wrong.
