Time Out For A Recital

By
Home Inspector with Jay Markanich Real Estate Inspections, LLC 3380-000723

I had to get home quickly after my last inspection.  Sometimes work can get in the way of family things.  This thing was important, and I was able to get there just in time!

The last of the Markanich-ans* had a piano recital.  She was to play Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake," and Handel's "Messiah, Hallelujah Chorus."

She did great!  Both pieces, no perceptible mistakes!  In fact, of the 13 performers there, she won the coveted chocolate piano prize for her performance.  We brought the chocolate piano home, put it on our real piano, and it lasted until just after this photo!

Then it was off to a nice family dinner at a fine local restaurant.  We had reservations AT the restaurant, but not any ABOUT the restaurant.  It was a terrific, leisurely family evening.

Jay:

It sounds as though your daughter really earned that chocolate piano. And, of course, it didn't last long.  Chocolate never does.

Claudette, I was allowed a small piece of one leg!  It was good though...

Makes me want to take lessons....again...if there is a chocolate piano as a prize !  I remember the hours my parents endured of listening to the required practices for my sister and me....ouch !

Jay.....congratulations.....I bet you were so proud when she was playing.....that's quite an accomplishment.....we always had a black laquer baby grand in hopes that someone would play!!!  didn't work that way.....you are very fortunate that she likes it....now go buy her a new baby grand.

Congrats to your daughter and to you for realizing work will be there when our family stuff is done. As professionals we sometimes have to make tough decisions on schedules and family should win most of the time.

S&D - yes, we listen to the same stuff over and over.  It seems to get a bit better each time!

Jeffrey - yes it is hard sometimes!  And often traffic doesn't accommodate!  But I was there on time!

Barbara - wow, nice piano!  We have a small, stand-up WurLitzer.  It is a great piano though.  We have it tuned every other year.

Randy - family should win most of the time!  Every now and then a deadline gets in the way though...

Jay, as the father of a six year old, I try very hard to block off the time that is important to him and "us".  Children grow up so fast, and one needs priorities in one's life.  Good for you =)

Thanks Chris.  We have to plan these things in.  Sometimes you just have to say to a client that this or that time is already scheduled, even if it costs hundreds of dollars!

Jay, you are obviously very proud of your daughter!  Gotta feeling she is equally proud of her dad.

BTW, Flemings looks like a great place to celebrate.

Mary Kay - very proud, yes.  She has been taking lessons for about 3 years, but only seriously practicing in the last year or so.  Flemings was wonderful.  My daughter ordered a Ceasar salad and they brought her a "chilled fork" to eat it with!  I have never been brought a chilled fork for anything!
