THIS IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT...

...FAMILYConcert band

Over the Memorial Day weekend we went to California to visit our daughter and her family. Our grandson was performing in the annual high school concert and we wanted to attend. At the bottom is a short 1 minute video of an impromtu improv he launched into as we were taking photos of him with a trophy he was awarded.

ACHIEVEMENTS

He is in the Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Jazz Lab Band, Drum Line, so obviously he loves music, especially the drums. But that's not going to be his career, it's just an avocation.Anthony award

He has many other interests including Karate, where he is a brown belt and expects to earn his black belt by next summer. He is also a scout and plans to earn his Eagle Badge by the end of next year.

He has always loved to perfom in short comedy skits and has been in the high school Improv class for two years now, 9th and 10th grade.

GPA

In addition to all of the avocational activities, he maintains a 4.14 grade point average. Yes, I was amazed, 4.14.

To top it all this guy has humility; so he is very popular at school. This year he  was a sophomore, and received an invitation from a junior to take her to the junior prom. That was cool.

SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM

Teacher awardThe music program at this high school is top notch. The program is supported by the parents who work in various fund raising projects and programs to earn money for the music department. The teacher, Ms Meyer, is superior and the kids love her.

The senior graduating class this year surprised her at the end of the concert by presenting her with a gift certificate to have her portrait made to hang in the school for eternity. Now that is respect!

IMPROV

Anthony was one of the music students to win an award, so when we got home from the concert we were taking picturse of him with his trophy and joking around. He is usually very serious and laid back, until he gets into his improv mood and then you don't know what to expect.

He saw that I wasn't just taking pictures, I was videoing, so he launched into this impromptu improv. The video is only one minute in length.
