These animals (Fisher Cat) are ntviae to the Northeast, they are usually not aggressive towards humans unless provoked or cornered. The fact that this animal was out during the day and it actually attacked a human is alarming. I would venture a guess and say that it was probably either protecting it's young nearby, or rabid.I live in Massachusetts, we have tons of them in Brimfield, the sounds of a fisher cat is blood curdling, not to be confused with the alarm cry of the fox, one of there favorite meals.
