Not quite speechless Sunday.


Everyone knows what this little dude is... and this is the season for them to coming seeking your blood.  I would not want you to be bitten and have the itcheys, let alone the diseases that can be caused by the mosquito.  In southeast Oklahoma, our average annual rainfall is around 50 inches, so think about it and do something to protect yourself if the mosquitos are present. 

Late evenings, early mornings, woods and streams... tall grass... all places that mosquitos are usually present.  Pour out standing water or put a teaspoon of bleach or something similar into it. 

Keep clear of these guys!

Amazingly, there are almost no mosquitos here on the Cumberland Plateau, in Jamestown, Tennessee. That makes riding in Big South Fork National Park a real pleasure, with neiher horses nor riders needing netting.

I've lived in several places were mosquitos were a plague..and I DON'T miss them!

Just looking at that picture makes me say OUCH.  But you're right --- just some common sense precautions can save people from those nasty little creatures.

We don't have many of those here, we don't have a lot of rainfall.  But when I go camping I have to head for the citronella or whatever works these days.  Thanks for the tip for using bleach, I wouldn't have thought of that.
