Pretty Blue Flower... or Is It a Weed ? Perhaps the Answer is in the Eyes of the Beholder...

By
Real Estate Agent with New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County

Sometimes those who search for happiness... travel all over the globe in to find it.  Perhaps happiness may not be found by "seeing new places" but by seeing "with different eyes.

Take this flower, for example.  Is it a pretty blue flower ?  When seen in this light, it sure seems to be.

Perhaps, though, for some others who see it "in a different light"... it may simply be a dandelion.  It's the same thing each time.  The same image... just accompanied by a different thought.

It is quite a powerful talent to have... to be able to look at things through a different light, or with different eyes.

A powerful talent, indeed.  But it's one we all can have... if only we look deeply enough inside ourselves... and in just the right places.

I think it may have been Max Planck, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist who said... "When you change the way you look at things... the things you look at... change."

Dr Wayne Dyer repeats this quote in many of his seminars... but it was originally taken from a study in Quantum Physics by Dr Planck.

When you change the way you look at things... the things you look at... change.

I agree with you and  Dr Plank:

When you change the way you look at things... the things you look at... change

It is  a simple and basic concept but sometimes changing the way we look at things  is very different for some people.. because involves change.

Esperanza:  It is so true that change can be very difficult.  People get used to things being a certain way... even if that "certain way" is painful.  At least they feel "used to it."  But sooner or later... hopefully... the risk of staying where you are... becomes more painful than the risk it takes to change.  Have a wonderful week.

Beautiful photo and a beautiful way to look at things.

When you change the way you look at things... the things you look at... change

Now that's a statement to embrace!

Karen Anne, I noticed that as I get (shudder) older I seem to grasp the concept. But I don't remember the quote. I will certainly remember the quote now, it is a good one!

Well Karen Anne - I think I just found a new quote to add to my email signature.  LOVE IT!  I am very fortunate...I have a five year old.  I try very hard to see things through his eyes, everything is much more beautiful that way!  Have a wonderful Day!

Karen Anne:  I like that quote, "When you change the way you look at things... the things you look at... change."  It something that not nearly enough people consider.

However, what I get from the picture is that not everything that LOOKS seemingly innocent and pretty IS.  So many of us make snap judgments based on superficial things--positive and negative.  How much better would our lives be if we more heavily weighed the facts than appearance?

Karen Anne:  It is really true that the most important real estate is that between our ears.  Our minds are very powerful.  And changing the way we see things gives us perspective, empathy, new ideas, positive attitudes and so much more.

So many people work so hard to get rid of the dandelions but my 5 year old daughter just thinks they are pretty. Maybe kids know something we need to learn.

Dr. Planck said a mouthful there.................you need to want to look at things in a different way in order for them to change.  This isn't always the easiest thing to do in many situations.  Sometimes digging deep within yourself is a painful place to go.

Beautiful photo Karen Anne and points well taken here.

Make it a great day!

My motto for sure from many moons ago.  To Think Is to Create!  Our thoughts are powerful little shifters (or non-shfiters) use them wisely.  Love this photo - how did you do that?

That's a great photo, Karen Anne. And even though I don't like dandelions, I've gotten better about letting them hang around in my garden. They signal that the soil is in good shape, some bugs like them, and if I am really desperate I can use the leaves in a salad!

Cheers,

Robin

Karen Anne- not only a beautiful photo but a thought provoking sentiment.  We could all use some of Dr. Planck's wisdom.

Dan... what a great compliment.  You have made me smile tonight.  And yes... I really don't try and comply with anyone else's idea of exactly what a "formula blog post" should look like.

Blogging is about relationships, and getting to know other folks... combined with my letting them into my ol' brain so they can get to know me.

You have made me smile tonight.  Thank you for that :)
