Out with the negative news, in with the positive!

Let me say first that I really dislike the local nightly news, but last night I found myself watching.  What did I see?  Trapped miners, dropping stock prices, arrests, soldier deaths, sexual abuse, kidnapping and the such.  Oh how our media thrives on bad news!  Well today I'm going to counteract the negativity. So on that note, here is a great website that I just found.

Good News Network International seeks to balance the news that we receive by adding positive stories to their site.  They admit that there is a certain place for negative news, but there is a greater need for uplifting news that isn't "dripping with sensationalism and attuned to the police scanner."  I've just begun to scan this site and I love it already.

So if you sometimes get fed up with not only negative real estate news, but negative news in every other area of our media, then get a daily serving of positivity from sites like this one.

Nathan, I too am fed-up with all the negative news.  We are bombarded with horrific stories in the newspapers and on T.V. as well.  I no longer watch the news.  I no longer watch Bill O'Reilly and other such shows because all they do is argue is fight.  I no longer read the newspaper, other than to keep up with real estate related topics.

I concentrate on feeding my mind with positive, healthy thoughts.

It is amazing what the media does - I read today that AIG is experiencing a 2.5% foreclosure rate on $26 billion dollars, and the article said that AIG may be the next to go down!  2.5% of $26 billion is absolutely nothing!  It blows my mind that everybody freaks out about the 2.5%, but the other 97.5% ($25.4 billion) that's being paid on time nobody cares about!

Nathan, thanks for informing us about this site. In today's times it is truly uplifting to read positive and inspirational stories.

Nathan - Thank you for this post.  I often times ask my wife to turn the news off because it's all about the worst things that society has to offer, and it brings me down.  I never want my son watching the news because it's too harsh and he doesn't need exposure to all the death and destruction and otherwise negative news.  I'd just as soon read him stories from the site that you just mentioned.  The regular news is such a strange dynamic anway.  They pound you over the head with all of the tragedies of the day, and then pass it off to the light-hearted sports guy and the over-the-top, happy-go-lucky weather guy that willingly takes credit for good weather and the blame for bad weather as if he had something at all to do with it.  Their little happy time at the end does nothing to undo the preceding 45 minutes.  I appreciate seeing things like this.  Keep 'em coming.
