Through Saturday, June 12. Sister Mary Ignatius Explains it all for you. This play revolves around Sister Mary Ignatius as she explains the basic tenets of Catholicism. Friday, June 11. Music Saves Lives. Five Points has teamed up with the Red Cross and Music Saves Lives to host a blood drive at the Five Points Fountain from 11AM to 4PM. The drive will be offering a number of great incentives to give blood including a chance to win one of three fabulous cruises, a VIP pass to the Vans Warped Tour, free snacks and goody bags and special discounts and offers from Five Points retailers. Learn about the exquisite art of tapestries with Medieval tapestry scholar Dirk Holger when he leads a gallery talk through Imperial Splendor: Renaissance Tapestries from Vienna. Artists Tommye Scanlin and Pat Williams demonstrate the art of weaving. Free with admission or membership | 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.. Saturday, June 12. Let's Celebrate Flag Day! Bring your family out to celebrate an early Flag Day with us. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation establishing June 14 as Flag Day. President Wilson lived in Columbia for a time during his youth and his father taught at the Columbia Theological Seminary, now known as the Robert Mills House. During Family Day, children can make Popsicle stick flags, a patriotic pinwheel, and participate in a contest to win a United States flag. Wednesday, June 16. Paddle the Columbia Canal! River Runner Outdoor Center invites you to join in the fun on their weekly kayak trip down Columbia's Historic Canal. Thursday, June 17. Gulf Fisherman Fundraiser. Terra and Chef Mike Davis will offer a three-course, Gulf-inspired menu for $25 to raise funds for Gulf Aid, a nonprofit established in response to the Gulf Coast oil spill. This event at the restaurant will culminate in a cocktail hour on the patio from 6-8 p.m. Tickets will be available for $20, and wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Reservations recommended but not required. Guests who would like to give to Gulf Aid, but enjoy other Terra dishes, may add a donation onto their Terra bill June 15-17. 100 State Street.
