Families have been very busy over the last few weeks with end of year activities in Franklin, MA. Prom and High School graduation have passed. All the band concerts, field trips and sports banquets are done. Kindergartners will end school tomorrow but the remaining grades have classes until this Friday.
The high school level students will have three half days of final exams over the course of the next few days with culmination of school on Friday June 18th. Make-up exams will be offered the next Monday.
Many students will just relax over the summer and take a family vacation but others are actively job hunting to earn some needed money towards college or saving for a first car. There are many summer camps as well as summer enrichment courses available through the Franklin Public Schools. The school department offers a broad range of courses from SAT prep to science, mathematics or english. There are music, art and sports clinics offered through the public schools Lifelong Learning program as well. For those who will be away, there are online courses available at the high school level enabling a student sitting at the ocean to gain valuable course credits.
While students are eager for no more homework, parents can only focus on keeping their children busy and free from boredom this summer. Most parents welcome this less structured time of year but filling the hours definitely takes creativity.
