Washington, DC : Market Update 6/14/10

Here is the breakdown as of June 14th, 2010

As the inventory of homes slightly increase; the number of homes under contract also are showing a slight decrease.  These are all normal indications of an approaching summer; when the market tends to slow.

Here are the number of homes on the market including the number of homes that were taken Off (EXPIRED) the market last week.

Washington DC

Single Family:      Actives: 1517         Expired: 13           Under Contract: 812

Condos:               Actives: 1315         Expired: 11           Under Contract: 462  

 

Arlington County

Single Family:      Actives: 378          Expired: 0            Under Contract: 239

Condos:               Actives: 561          Expired: 3            Under Contract: 201

 

Prince Georges County

Single Family:      Actives: 4223          Expired: 36          Under Contract: 2513

Condos:               Actives: 791            Expired: 2            Under Contract: 230

 

Montgomery County

Single Family:     Actives: 3085          Expired: 10          Under Contract: 2054

Condos:              Actives: 1119          Expired: 9            Under Contract: 556

 

It is important to see the number of homes taken "Off" the market.  While many of these homes will return to the marketplace a week or two; seeing a listing "expire" means that the seller and agent thought or expected the home to be sold by now.
