One of the most fascinating stories ever to be introduced to mankind is in the bible, specifically the first book called Genesis. In it, we are introduced to the story of Adam & Eve, God, a serpent and a tree that bears fruit, but is off limits.
The beginning of the end.... or the end of the begining? 
We all know the story.....but that is not the point of my post. The point is that we are cursed by God for disobeying his instructions (and other things). When you first enter into the story and read it through, it boggles the mind and triggers all sorts of thoughts and questions. That's what it is supposed to do....
The whole story could not possibly be contained in just a few pages...no more than a 200 page story tells all there is to know about you or I. But we get enough to know that something happened, what we did, why we did it...... how it was not pleasing to God and that he had to curse us for the mishap. Whoa or WOE......
Adam was in an extreme state of sorrow...weeping, morning, and pleading with God to deliver him back into his good graces. This is where we are introduced to what we lost....because something is causing Adam sorrow....great sorrow. He lost something.....the presence of God....... with measure in him.
Under the CURSE of God, we now have to fend for ourselves. We went from being children whose father supplied all our needs to that of Pseudo Gods who now have to supply our own needs and wants with much effort and little reward.....thus the false promise of Satan fulfilled I.E. You shall be like Gods. Faced with choices never before having to have been made, man became fearful and subject to forces he once ruled....
Just like you know when to stop punishing someone when they have had enough and before you break their spirits, God had said, for us to go, and learn to fend for ourselves until the day he will send a solution to the curse. You are allowed to live under the curse for now. Until then, go.......be fruitful and multiply. In essence.....TAKE WHAT YOU BARGAINED FOR.
A huge void was created within ourselves where God used to dwell in substantial measure. That void is still with us today. Now, we try to fill it with other things...all the while knowing that we cannot be satisfied. No matter how much you drink, eat or gather unto yourself, there is an emptiness that cannot be filled except by the one who created that space. Try to substitute something else into this space......whatever you will, WHATEVER IT IS, if never satisfies making you come back for more & more. What high maintenance.
As you read about man's journey away from God and into the world that he bargained for, we see ourselves in every situation. Mans fears, his enemies, his failings, his sin all become apparent and make matters worse for him. The only thing that sustains him is God's mercy, grace, and promises of redemption. Other than that, it is a fruitless and pointless existence to eat, drink, and make merriment over and over again.
For a human being to live for such a short time....doesn't make sense either. When we study it, we cannot explain what causes our genes to go from rapid spurting growth to halting growth and then declining growth or DEATH. It is as if something is reminding us to make good our time here for time is upon you. Lines have been drawn. The sentence of time and what to do with it...is upon us all. It remains one of the greatest mysteries we have.......and we have plenty of of mysteries.
Every ancient culture from all over the world up until now has commented on the subject of Adam & Eve, God, death and mankind. It is inherent in mankind to explore it, pursue it and find peace on the subject. How can this be? What compels us to ask the question? Why are we not content to have what ever time we have? The answer lies deep within our souls.....You started out perfect, fell from it, and have a chance to come back....if you want to. If not, the gift of this short life still remains a gift of the highest degree....LIFE. Eternal life is another matter...........
We were never meant to perish, but have everlasting life. As proof of a past problem and of a disagreement with the creator, death stands as a reminder to that scenario. But God, who allows and controls all things is faithful unto what he starts...causing him to finish it in ways that we do not know. One of his reference names is the ALPHA & OMEGA or beginning and ending. He specializes in cycles.....finishing what he starts. So it will be with you.....if you want it and allow it.
He promises a solution to this ancient curse...this mistake that we committed and in bringing about that cure, restores us to our true heritage. It is his desire that we return to him.....if we will....if we choose.....
