Would you want to live here?
This is part 3 in reviewing the different and unusual city names throughout our country. Since there are so many, I am going to have to break this down into three parts; part 3A, part 3B and part 3C. There are some interesting names that are great for our real estate industry, some that are not so great and some that are outright crazy, ridiculous and random. In this post I am going to review the names that are down-right odd or off the wall. Part one reviewed the names that are beneficial for our industry. Part two reviews the names of some cities that would be a detriment to real estate.
Alabama boasts some crazy names like Burnt Corn, Eclectic, Hill Number 1, Intercourse & Bobo. (really?)
Alaska has Chicken, Deadhorse & Unalaska (but isn't it in Alaska?)
Arizona's strange names include Boneyard, Bootlegger Crossing, Bumble Bee, Nothing, Show low, Tuba City & Why ( someone asks you where you live & you respond 'Why" & they say 'because I'm curious, and you respond 'Why" and the vicious circle never ends!)
Arkansas has Bald Crossing, Crash-up Mountain, Greasy Corner (great if you are the owner of a diner), Nuckles, Toad Suck, Turkey Scratch & Yellville (are you required to Yell all the time?).
California has Bummerville, Clapper Gap, Cool, Igo, Mad River, Rough and Ready, Scarface, Quabbletown, Sucker Flat, The City, Wimp, You Bet & you can't forget Yreka & Zzyzx (pronounce that one!).
Colorado isn't as ridiculous with Climax, Hygiene & No Name.
Big Neck, Mianus (my anus?), are in Connecticut.
How about living in Blue Ball or Cocked Hat Delaware?
Florida can rival some of the other states with Fluffy Landing, Howie-in-the-Hills, Needmore, Okahumpka, Two Egg (over easy?) & Yeehaw Junction.
Georgia's names include Between (what?), Enigma, Hopulikit & Jinks.
Illinois has towns called Bugaboo, Grand Detour & Roach (I'll bet Orkin has a field day here!).
Do they uses a bow & arrow or a gun in Beehunter, Indiana? Or you can live in Fickle or Gnaw Bone.
I will continue in 2 additional posts with the remaining states. Because there were so many, I had to eliminate many, so if I missed any in the first part of the alphabet of the states, feel free to mention it.
