Adding Color And Larger Text In A Blog Post Is Simply Simple

Karen did an outstanding job on this post - this is the seventh reblog

Original content by Karen Kruschka

When I first started blogging I saw two choices for entries - WYSIWYG and HTML. Since I didn't know HTML I chose WYSIWYG and the text in all my posts looked like this unless I added bold, italic or a combination

Then I noticed there were people with larger and more colorful entries. It only took a few seconds for Arthur and I to decide this was easier to read and "way too cool".
Piece of Cake
Being our team leader I delegated the job of learning HTML to him. In about an hour he announced it was a "piece of cake"

All you need to do in HTML mode is type in this code. Incidentally, I have the code stored so all I have to do is copy and paste when I need it

HTML Code

Everything you type in after that code will be 14 px font colored black. The 6 zeros are HTML for black. If you changed the px to 16 and the 6 zeros to CC0000 you wind up with a larger, red font.

When you have completed any size or color section you must end the section with this code.

End HTML

Once you have done that you will be back to the one size, black WYSIWYG font.

While in HTML code you can change the word "look" by inserting any of the following codes around the word or words. Yes, you can do it whether or not you are writing in color. The most important thing to remember is to end the code.

More HTML Code

The following link has the 216 web safe color codes WEB SAFE HTML COLOR CODES that you can use to really add color along with font size to your posts.

I look forward to seeing you in the Rain in color.

SPECIAL NOTE: After I posted this Bill Gassett commented and mentioned that Scribefire is much easier. That is very true and you can use it if you have Firefox installed as your browser. My suggestion only pertains to Internet Explorer.

Thank you so much for posting this. Printing it out so to experiment with it. This could be the end of my frustrating effort.

Love this.. you proved that html doesn't have to be scary, even though it looks wacky, all it takes is a little bit of time and you can get it no prob!
