Finding the Right Real Estate Agent Part II

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Twin Rivers Real EstateINC.
Like I mentioned in Finding the Right Real Estate Agent about the interview process. The first interview should be directed at narrowing down the players by at least half if not more. I would be up front with the Real Estate Agent or REALTOR and tell them that you are conducting an interview process to find the right person for the job. That right there will help weed out certain individuals that you would not want to work with. Depending on your time frame of whether you need to sell now or buy now you can spread out the interview process. The faster you put together a game plan as when you want to buy or sell a home the more freedom you will have to enjoy the process. Please do not wait until they have taken the car out of the drive and shut the electric off to decide that you need to sell the house. Set some goals like 3,6,9 & 12 months from now and where do you want to be in that time frame. Remember goals are a road map of life to let you know where you have been and where you are going. If you keep doing what you are doing you keep getting what you are getting! Have a list of certain questions to ask the first round candidates to help narrow down the field. Or if you choose you could conduct an interview with one or two Real Estate Agents or REALTORS a day/night and have series of questions regarding how you want to be treated and what your expectations are. Ask opened end questions that start with pronouns like: What,Where Why,Who and When that way they will have to give you more of an answer than yep and uh huh. The Real Estate Agent or REALTOR should be doing the same-thing during the interview process to determine if he or she would like to work with you. Honesty is the most important part of the interview process because there is no sense in waisting your time and the candidates time if there is not a bond there. Either you like the person or you do not like the person. If you happen to run into this just politely say "I am sorry I just do not think this is a perfect match, Thank you for your time." Real Estate Agents and REALTORS do not like to hear "NO" but tell me who does! We should be professional enough to gather our stuff and politely excuse ourselves and say " I understand, Thank you for your time" and leave. I have rambled long enough for now it is time for me to go. Check back for Part III coming to a BLOG near you!!!!!! Peace, Yukon John
