I just spent July at my home in Telluride, Colorado. If you haven't been there, you should make it a point to because it is a drop dead gorgeous place about 9,000 ft. up in the Colorado Rockies. Bob Dylan happened to be there while I was and he put on a great concert in our outdoor ampitheater under the stars. As you might expect from Dylan, it was an experience not to be missed - especially since one never kn ows how long the Dude will keep traveling around sharing his songs.
I know he's on a lengthy tour right now, he'd just come from a 2 day sold-out show at Redrocks in Denver and he's off to foreign lands after this. But is his voice completely gone, or what? I haven't heard him live in awhile and he's down to about a 4 note range. The local paper summarized his voice as 'gravel over sandpaper with cigarettes thrown in'. If anybody else has heard him on his current tour, is the voice really gone? Or was he just tired and having a little trouble getting enough oxygen at 9,000 feet?
Still a great show after you get over the voice. His phrasing and general genius are definitely still there, plus you get to play 'Guess the Song' to see how much of the song he has to sing before you guess what it is. He has a kick-ass band backing him and still rocks like a maniac at 66. I hope I'm in half that crazy when I'm that age.
Also saw Hot Tuna - Jorma Kaukonen & Jack Casaday in an acoustic show at our Opera House that holds about 200 souls. They still rock and Jack still has the craziest eyebrows in the business.
Hope you're all enjoying your summer. Real estate is slow so you might as well use the downtime to stop and smell a few roses. It'll be busy again before long.
That is a beautiful part of the country= you are so lucky to get to see concerts there. Hope you enjoy Bob Dylan.
