These particular fungi or mushrooms are located among the tree roots in the Muir National Forest which is located in the state of California near Mt. Tamalpais

Jenny - No but the location is in the US. I imagine they look almost the same today as they did some 30 plus years ago when this photo was taken
"Fried Eggs" located DEEP in the CAVE FORMATION or KARST LANDSCAPES...in the state of KENTUCKY in the NATIONAL CAVES.

Kathy, These are in Luray Caverns in Luray Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains not far off of Skyline Drive!! Or ones very similar to these!

Gloria's response sparked my Google image searching. I typed "fried eggs" (in quotes) and the word cave into google images. The second picture showed the fried eggs at Luray Caverns at http://www.luraycaverns.com/DiscoverTheCaverns/FriedEggs/tabid/593/Default.aspx
I was at Luray Caverns about 5 years ago. It is a great way to end a vacation to DC.

Marc - those are the "eggs" in my photo just from a different angle ..... the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive is a very scenic route to follow as we did on more than one occasion over the years.
