June 5th was the first the first Saturday in June this year and it was also the opening day for Westside Rivers in Washington state.  Unfourtunelty, due to work I was unable to get out to my favorite summer trout fishing grounds.   While I was working my so called friends, aka the competiton were knocking the native wild cutthrouts out of the water, and proving it via text message and mobile uploads.  I'm pretty sure that's what this form of media is intended for, bragging rights and in your face comments. 

So, last night June 15th was my first chance to even the count.  Without any notice to my rivals I ventured out to the Black River, a tributary to the Chehalis River running south from Black Lake in Tumwater, WA through Rochester, WA.

I put in at the La France and 123rd bridge in Littlerock,WA.  Naturally I was the only one there.  It was 6 O'clock, 53 degrees, and raining; perfect right?  I popped on my battle tested Panther Martin lure.

Paddled out in my equally tested pontoon boat just 200 yards south of the bridge and let the lip ripping begin!

After just two casts into my evening cell phones across Thurston County began to blow up as I documented each catch.  And the reply, " Why didn't you call me?"
