We have a heck of group of realtors here in west Maui.  Every week the same hard working folks show up and pitch their listings with professionalism, good natured ribbing and more than a dash of humor when it's appropriate.  And it's always appropriate.

Today two properties really stood out as good buys worthy of Potts' Picks

The first is a gorgeous home in Kapalani Estates in the Kahana area.  If you know the area this is right across a public beach and the surf area known as "S turns" and near Roy's.  The home has 4 spacious bedrooms, a laid back Hawaiian style office with a view of the ocean and some killer views from the upstairs living area, master suite and kitchen.  The drawbacks to this home are that it is older, but it has nice finishes and it appears to be in great condition and it's near the Honoapiilani Highway, so you could get some road noise, although we didn't notice it this morning.  It also has kind of a smallish yard, which could be a plus or a minus depending on your perspective. 

Get all of the listing information at 4068 S. Paua Way.

The home is priced at $1,425,000 which is about right.  However, I think it will sell for about 15% - 16% less at about $1.2M ultimately.

The second property is a completely renovated 2 bedroom direct oceanfront condo Royal Kahana 911.  This is a nice upscale condo with beautiful finishes.  Since being remodeled it has never been lived in so it is like new.  It was originally priced at $1,399,000, and in another building like Mahana or even a Kaanapali Shores Aloha Suite, it would have been snapped up at that price.  But after 480 days on the market they've dropped the price below a million to $999,000.  The downsides to this unit are that the kitchen is kind of closed off from the main living area, but it still has a great view.  Also, the building had been bit of tired, shall we say, and, although they've done some significant remodeling lately, it still suffers from its prior reputation. The only thing I see that might be as good as this for under a million is Noelani 308.

For $999,000 with its grand sweeping view and quality finishes, this is good buy.  But you may be able to do better.  You don't know until you try.
