One of my son's favorite places to grab lunch, New England Roast Beef is somewhat of a staple in Worcester. Located on 33 Park Avenue, Worcester and open 6 days a week, New England Roast Beef offers Specialty Sandwiches, Soups, Appetizers, Salads, Seafood and their most popular Major League Wings. Their specialty sandwiches are named after the surrounding colleges, such as "The Becker" which is a turkey, roast beef, American Cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and peppercorn dressing. "The WPI" consists of roast beef, American Cheese, tomatoes, onions and horseradish to shake it up a bit. Other sandwiches are named for some of the streets nearby, such as "The Park Ave.", "The Salisbury" and "The West Boylston".
This mainstay is locally owned and serves local businessman and women catching a quick bite to eat or local college students in walking distance from the sports-themed decor. One may find famous photos of the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup or the Boston Red Sox win their 2004 Championship.
For larger parties, customers may get one of their super, large roast beef or pastrami platters for only $8.99 and served with coleslaw or beer battered fries or onion rings.
Fish and chips, lobster rolls or clam chowder are also offered for anyone who is craving seafood. New England Roast Beef offers salads and one of my favorites is the chicken caesar. Their Major League Wings have varieties of special sauces sure to please any taste buds. Thai Sweet, Cajun Blackened, Jamaican Jerk BBQ, Spicy Peanut and Zesty Orange, just to name a few.
Be sure to stop by or call for take out at (508) 756-1991. New England Roast Beef is open on Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. They are CLOSED on Sundays, as sometimes we forget!
