I had the pleasure of showing houses in yesterday and today's record breaking temperatures. To top it off my clients were from California and the Fedex guy backed out of a luxury home into my Lexus.  What does that mean? My clients spent an hour and a half in the heat waiting for the State Trooper to arrive to write up the ticket.  Oh what joy!!

                                           Raleilgh Forecast

That said, North Carolina HOT is a different kind of hot.  I've said over and over again that I grew up in Texas.  Texas is DRY HEAT.  100 degrees in Texas is NOT HOT because there isn't a lot of humidity.  However, anything over 95 degrees in the Triangle is REALLY HOT

I just turned off the nightly forecast.  WOWEEE!! We hit 104 degrees today-105 is the all time record in the area.  Something has to be said about global warming.  What's going on?  Anyway, not only did we hit 104---the humidity was 67% and the dew point 74..

I know you don't think it's possible.  However, it really happened today.  Yes, I showed houses today but not until 6:30pm and it wasn't quite so bad.  There has to be an end in site.

Please give me dry heat like in Texas.  And, for those of you that think we have lots of bugs, you are wrong!! Even in the heat of the summer.  I promise!!

Tracy,

Yes Dry heat is very different.  Back in 1975 I remember getting off a plane in South Carolina in the summer, and I thought someone had opened the gates of He.. .  Being from Southern California I had NEVER experienced this type of humidity, and swore I would NEVER purposely experience it again.....Hot isn't even the word!!!

The Grass isn't always greener on the other side (and if it is it's probably humid).

Tracy,
What a miserable thing to happen on the hottest day of the year!  Our humidity was 100% and it was not raining, I did not know that was possible. Hope your clients were understanding.

Tracy,

I always thought 100 in Nebraska was hot. But North Carolina beats that heat. All this humidy makes it miserable out there. I am doing much better with the heat if I keep my water intake up.

As far as the heat goes. I believe that the earth goes in like 50 year cycles and we are in the heat cycle. I remember growing up being in the very cold and snowy cycle. two foot on the ground through the winter and snow in the roads always. We would sleigh ride down the streets of my little town.

But the heat. I do not remember.

Tracy,

This week has been brutally HOT. Yes, the humidity makes a big difference.  I have lived here in southeastern NC my whole life.  Returning from a trip from California a few years ago, I also stepped out of the airport and felt as if I couldn't breathe.  It was then I realized what a difference in the humidity here in the South.  I'll take the heat and humidity---because I wouldn't want to call home anywhere else.

This has been a wicked heat wave, even in Florida.  We air condition our parks, and it's still too hot.  (joke)  I think it's supposed to break this weekend.  Please.

Patsy - If NC is hot I can't even imagine how hot it is in FL.  Right now we have a drought in 3/4 of the state and they are setting our town up on YEAR ROUND water restrictions.  It's getting pretty bad....

Air conditioned parks - COOL ;)
