Bait Sites....Good or Bad?

By

Well, I have read a bunch of different opinions on bait sites. SEO is a big deal when you realize how many buyer's are looking on the Internet before calling an agent. I have been working ever angle I can find to improve my website ranking. I have now added five bait sites. I figure the link backs to my main site can't hurt. I am also experimenting with different content and different key words. I would be afraid to experiment on my main site and drop in ranking. This way, If one of my bait site jumps forward I will see what its working.

I guess time will tell, but for $6.95 for the domain name and free five page website, it seems like like the cheapest advertising I can find.

Where do you get a five page website and domain name for $6.95?  I am fairly new and I can't seem to figure out why my website doesn't even show up in the top 10 pages of google.  Or is that pretty common?  What do you mean by "bait sites"?  Are these sites just used to attract people on google or yahoo?  How does that idea work?

Brad, Why not try some stealth sites? They may wind up ranking higher than http://bradsnyder.com

I'd caution all of you that are considering bait sites, be careful of a concept called cloaking...it's when you mirror a site or have the same site layout and same content on multiple sites that are owned by the same person...all of the sites are penalized...you can email me if you have other questions...i can help you out...

Hi Brad,

I'm curious how this is working for you

Are you tracking this in Analytics so you know how much traffic their driving to you?

Please read my post : http://activerain.com/blogsview/335620/Make-Your-Own-Trusted
There is a good report on bait site marketing  that's linked from that post that you should also read.

There are a few concepts (like republishing an RSS feed (like your A/R blog for example) that will help you automate having fresh content on your page... that'll help those be more attractive to the search engines.

A few local phone numbers and links to fire/police/hospitals.. for example on your 411 name... etc)

Curious your impression of the effectiveness of that as a marketing tactic and if you would read my report and provide a testimonial / feedback I'd really appreciate it also.

Thanks,

Riel
