Lewiston, Idaho - The state of Idaho is looking to set up a health insurance exchange despite a lawsuit that could bar its formation. The Idaho Department of Insurance is looking to form an exchange in direct challenge to the new health care regulations set forth by the Obama administration, which the state is hoping to overturn.
Legally, a health care exchange will allow consumers and small businesses to purchase insurance in an insurance marketplace. Department Director Bill Deal is hoping to work on an actionable plan that will be approved by 2013 and made available a year after its approval.
"You don't just form a program like this, flip the switch and have it run perfectly." Deal said. I'd like to get it going a little earlier."
