Fishing is GREAT in Central Oregon

If you love the outdoors, Central Oregon is paradise!  Tonight while taking our 7 month old Black Lab to Wickiup Reservoir to swim I stumbled accross a local man, Mr. Brown.  Mr. Brown, had been fishing from his boat on Wickiup just before sunset.

mr brown wickiupThe Catch of the day was amazing, one of those once in a lifetime stories that will be told around the holiday dinner table for years to come.  We all know the saying about fishermen lying, but this is no fish tale, it is the truth.

18.5 pound Brown Trout - from Wickiup - a very nice catch for the evening fishing trip.

There are several lakes, reservoirs, and rivers in Central Oregon that offer some great fishing.

Be sure to visit Central Oregon Real Estate for your fishing or hunting cabin needs.

For more about Mr. Brown and the area where is catch was brought in visit Fishing Central Oregon.

Thesa,

WOW! That is quite a catch for Mr. Brown, I'm sure he will be talking about it for years to come. :)

At least he has a picture to back up his "fish" story!  What a catch!

08/10/2007 07:42 AM by Indianapolis Real Estate | Paula Henry (ReMax Excel)

Now that's a fish!  I bet Mr. Brown enjoyed reeling that one in!

08/10/2007 09:02 AM by Cynthia Sloop, Realtor Indianapolis Real Estate (Carpenter Realtors (Lic. in Referral))

That fish could feed a family of four for a week!  I bet he loved hauling it in and he will talk about it for some time.  I wonder if fish ever get tough when they get that old and that big?  ;-)

08/10/2007 09:21 AM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

WOW!!!  What a fish...INCREDIBLE!!!  What did your dog think of that fish?  My dogs love to KISS'M before we throw them back.  Did the guy keep the fish or throw it back?

08/10/2007 10:47 AM by Real Estate Specialist | Brandon, FL | Susie Roscoe (Signature Realty Associates)

That is one fish. The ones we catch up in Oregon are never that big.

08/10/2007 11:07 AM by Camarillo CA Real Estate Agent/ Mana Tulberg (Beach View Real Estate)

Thesa -Great local piece and that was certainly some catch for Mr. Brown. Did he throw a party?

08/10/2007 03:04 PM by Jennifer Fivelsdal,ABR,GRI,SRES (Keller Williams Realty)

Thesa--That is one great fish story...And one BIG fish. They must grow 'em bigger in Oregon. If that is the one Mr Brown caught, how big was the one that got away?

08/10/2007 06:50 PM by Teri Eckholm, Realtor® Anoka County MN (Keller Williams Premier Realty)

Oh my gosh!  That's huge!  I think I also need to go to Oregon to go fishing.  The more I read Localism posts..the more places I add to "places I must visit".  :)  I enjoy fishing.

Thesa,

Stephanie took the words right out of my month the minute I saw this photo...oh my gosh! Does Mr. Brown know his wonderful photo is being sent all over the world? I bet he'd love it.

Thesa, Wow, I'd hate to take that one off the hook!!!  What an accomplishment for Mr. Brown!

That photo just made me so hungry! Darn it! I have a stew in the crockpot but it won't be ready for a while. Darn you, Thesa! Why would you do this to me? What did I ever do to you?

oooooh how I miss fishing at Wickiup. We used to camp up there and get out in the fishing boat before the sun was even up! That was hard for a 13 year old. haha. Definitely some great areas to fish and camp...

Wow what a catch!!  Coming from Colorado we did lots of trout fishing but I have never seen one that big.

My husband went off shore fishing recently and we just had shark that was caught off the boat this evening.  It was just a regular shark though, we don't need him catching a huge shark.

Thesa WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!    I have not been in years but I really enjoy fishing.  I would love to go fishing with Mr. Brown.  Just my luck I would catch something like that and NOBODY would have a camera or there would be a camera and no batteries.  LOL

Thesa,  WOW.....Now that is a FISH!.. I bet he won't soon forget that catch.

Central Oregon just keeps sounding better and better.  No need for Mr. Brown to exagerate when telling this fish tale!

Thesa,  that's the biggest  trout I've ever seen ! Gorgeous pic.

Guess I'm a few minutes late... We just got back today and my wife beat me to this one... Can't say as I've ever needed two hands to hold up my catch of the day.

But my arms are big and one can easily handle 18.5 pounds... LOL

What a catch!  I love the stories told here by fellow bloggers.  Thanks!

WOW!  I have not been fishing in a long time - this post makes me want to head out onto Lake Wallenpaupack and try for a "big one!" myself!  Congratulations to your new buddy!  :)

Thesa,

I hope you don't mind I copied your post and the picture and sent it to my uncle (who doesn't do blogs) and he is a fishing guide in Branson, Missouri.  He will love it!  Here he is....

08/14/2007 06:35 PM by North Kansas City Real Estate :: Fran White 816-682-3897 (North Kansas City Real Estate, Reece and Nichols Residential)

Suzanne - I am sure he will - I asked him if he was going to have it mounted and he very simply said... nah I am saving that for the 20 pounder.

Paula - we both laughed at that.... here I am saying.... wait I want a picture of you... I am a real estate broker, I am sure he thought I was nuts.

Cyndi - I did not think to ask him how long it took him... I bet it was a while though.

Joanne - I have had a few this large (not that I caught though) they were not tough... but they can get a little fishy towards spawning time - this was a male though.

Susie - isn't he pretty - I kept the dog in the truck while I took the photo.... I am sure Max would have gone crazy.  He kept this guy... there are a couple places that are catch and release but not Wickiup.

Mana - I live here and my largest was a 5 lb Bass and a 12 lb Brown....

Sally - could feed a lot of people uh?

Jennifer - I do not know if he threw a party but another local was there and commented that the wife would not be  happy that she had not been there.

Teri - Trust me this is an unusual fish

Stephanie - you really should come visit - there is a lot to see.... and I just happen to know a great guide - me -

Lynda - come on up - would love to take you to the local hang outs

Chris - I would have been afraid it would come off the hook as I brought it into the net or over the side of the boat...

Lisa - Stew sounds pretty good :o)

Rick - you know it is the best place to hang out :o)

Marchel - I love shark - but trout is good too.

Kimberly - I love to fish - it is so relaxing - maybe it is where we fish I love so much.... but getting away from it all is so great.

Matt - It is a great fish - I had to have the photo -

Maggie - no need to exaggerate for sure - it was a great catch.

Jo-Anne - Oregon is beautiful and there are a lot of great places to fish.

Sandra - So, I must see Dan's catch... lol

Dan - you could have carried this one easily <wink> you crack me up.

Debi - thanks

Karen - thanks I love to fish too.

Fran - wow it appears your uncle is a fly fisherman.... that is a great catch and a tough reel in for a fly.

Thesa,

What a huge trout.  Nice story about Central Oregon.  Now Mr. Brown has proof of his catch for all those who think it is another fish story!

Thesa - that is some fish - WOW - glad you had your camera handy :-)

Thesa

My mind has been reeling since first viewing the picture of the brown trout.  I wish ... I only wish.  There was a time, not all that long ago, when I would fish often.   Now, I don't fish at all and I suspect that my attitude is suffering greatly.   I'm glad you shared this post with us.
