Strasburg, VA is not exactly the home of many fancy restaurants. It doesn't take long to run through the selection of dining establishments when one is asked the question of "Where should we eat lunch today?" as I was asked yesterday. We pondered on which "greasy spoon", as my associate called it, should we dine at today.
We decided on an off the beaten path establishment called, Big and Lil D's located off the main drag. one street over. It definitely did not live up to the "greasy spoon" category. In fact, our food was very good and we both devoured every last morsel of our meal.
The little diner off the main drag leaves one feeling like they have stepped back in time. From the bright red booths to the stainless steel trimmed tables to the bar stools lined along the long counter that were filled with many diners, you feel as though you have walked into a different era.
I recommend you try this little diner out the next time you visit Strasburg, VA the self-proclaimed "antique capital of Virginia". The town and diner won't disappoint you even if the town decided not to rename itself for Stephen Strasburg pitcher for the Nationals.
