Hurricane- Before the Storm

I have been posting a series of post for Hurricanes. This post will be a checklist that you should have in case a storm should hit. We all should know this by hard, but its a good reminder.

  • Drinking water- At least one gallon per person per day for at least three to five days. You will need extra water for preparing food and personal hygiene.
  • Food- Food for three to five days of non-perishable foods.
  • Three to five days worth of baby formula, diapers, wipes and special foods for the elderly
  • Manual can opener
  • Paper goods- plates, cups, utensils, paper towels
  • Extra bedding- sheets, pillows, and sleeping bags, should you need to evacuate
  • Clothing
  • First and kit
  • Medicines- a two week supply
  • Flash light and batteries
  • Battery or hand cranked radio
  • Hardline telephone with jack
  • Toys, books and games for entertainment during the storm
  • Pet food and cat litter and other pet care items
  • Plastic trash bags and ties
  • Extra propane gas for outdoor cooking
  • Fire extiguisher
  • Matches in a waterproof container
  • Mosquito repellent with DEET, and sunscreen
