"...and it was the best one I had written all month!"

Do you ever feel like that?  Like your highly informative post just didn't catch the attention it should have?

You are not alone.  We all have posts like that.

Rosemary Brooks, Mark Blasi, Sally, Jeff Dowler, Lisa Hill, Sarah Eubanks, Angie Vandenbergh, Mariana Wagner, Ardell, Jason Sardi, Ed Rybczynski, Laurie Mindnich, Nick, George Souto, Andy Kaufman, Drew Meyers, Brad Carroll, Lenn Harley, Sarah Cooper, Tracey Thomas, Stephanie, Tony Marriott, John Occhi, Linda Davis, Maureen Henry (and so many more).  You know the post I'm talking about.

Newbies - did you pour your heart and soul into a post only to have it go unnoticed?  Have you sunken back into lurk mode?  Get that post noticed. This is your big chance!

Crying about it isn't going to help.  This isn't about not being Featured.  It's about viewers and comments - pure and simple.

But here's your chance, or better named...

List the link and title to the post you think went unnoticed in the comments below.

That's right go ahead a put a link to it.  It's ok.

If you really want you can even put a blurb about why you think we should read this.  I promise you'll have more comments, more views, and more exposure - and that's what it's all about right?

Be Heard!

I'll start with Mine:  You Only THINK You Were Approved

It's about how the mortgage market has changed drastically and even if you were approved before - that approval may no longer be valid.  I think this is an important concept for Consumers, Loan Officers, Buyers Agents, and especially Listing Agents.  The offer you accepted may now be worthless!  Read on!

Hi Mike! I certainly do feel like that sometimes. I write something and get so excited about it, but then don't see as much interaction with it as I anticipated. It certainly is interesting to watch what people like to comment on. Sometimes I don't know if it is just timing on releasing posts, dumb luck or actual content that is not very appealing. Although I understand why local content doesn't get many comments.

So a recent post I thought people would really like... and I did get some comments, but I think it is so cool everyone has to check it out....

How to advertise a single property web address for $9/year.

Let's see how your little experiment takes off :) By the way... I vote to feature this post if any moderators are reading.... I think I am going to flag it.

Mike - So true the industry related blogs that you spend so much time in don't receive the most comments.  Then funky little blogs like  How to upload an Animated .gif gets tons of comments. ;) I think people are really more interested in cute little things that move than they are in great content.

OK, Mike, you put my name in there so I'll play.  I'm not complaining, I usually have more people visit my blogs than I deserve, so this is hard for me to pick.  And I'm generally not informative -- I just babble.  (Are you sure you still want me to play?)  I'll just throw this one out again because I'd like more people to do it.  Make Someone Smile Challenge (Yes I Mean It).  (It got some comments and good stuff came from it, but couldn't hurt to look again, right?)

Thanks, Mike!

I do feel like that but then again, I've only been on here for about a week now.  I've only received one feedback and that was on my original post.  That's ok.  I figure eventually I will get a response from someone and if anything I've gotten myself on page one on Google when you type in my name.  That has to account for something.  And if any of you guys want to check out my blog, I'd love some visitors! :)

Mike,

I like this idea. It will give everyone a chance to spotlight a post they wished someone would read, that for whatever reason, got lost in the shuffle.

Here's one of mine from February that I really wish would have been read (SMILE:)

Nice idea and I'll take you up on it at a later time, I just have to decide which of my many posts to highlight here.  At first,I felt a little hurt when only a few read them but then I decided it was ok.  I mean it is a bit embarassing when you have 3 comments on a post vs. hundreds of comments on the other posts above and beneath yours.  It sort of sticks out!  I am learning as I go so perhaps, so I hope to write more interesting posts in time.  I will do the best I can and if noone reads them, I'll just take it on the chin and keep up a continuous effort.

Mike,  Thanks for the outlet.  I was curious about posting here thinking that I might look like one of the whiners.  I usually just post with an eye towards forwarding my office's future business (most of my posts have been listings) and don't worry about features.  I do look at comment count and wonder sometimes.  Here's my choice to repost.  I thought it would have brought more comments

Mike...  I read that blog of yours and gave it a 5. Me complain...?  lol  Well, I had a m.o. that I did... and some people took it to far.. lol   Seriously though, those posts that don't have smileys all over them, talk about gossip, talk about getting featured, or might be a little negative.. just won't usually get those wanted comments.

You know what, that is fine with me, as long as my phone rings or I get e-mails from consumers and realtors. I even get e-mails from other loan officers.

In any case, I truly appreciate the plug and the notice. I too was very shocked because I thought it was well written and informative... and yes, should have been featured. Gee, we saw others that were, but by bigger names and just with the basics.

Overall... I will stop back to add a few that I have come across. I actually started writing this over an hour ago and the phone hasn't stopped since...

Jeff - Your post for sure should have more readers, more comments!

Mike, my question is, how many comments are considered good enough?  5, 10, 100?  If we only blog to get tons of comments, then we're going to be disappointed many times.

But thanks for giving many of us a second, or third chance.

LaShon - Thanks, I'll get back and read that later!

Jeff - I popped into the title post and WOW!  I'll get back and leave a comment on both later.

Yolanda - Sometimes the posts we write don't call for comments.  Sometimes they do.  So I'll say it depends on the post as to how many I might expect.  I typically don't get the huge number of comments anyway.  My largest is 67 comments from How to Upload an Animated Gif.  I blog to get my message out.  Not for points, Features, or comments.  But sometimes I have some really great posts that slip through the cracks for whatever reason and go unnoticed.

Mike:  I have spent the last 30 min searching for the blogging "rules".   I made a nice blog today, yet it scored 0 points.  In my search I read other blogs that say you can only blog "X" number of times a week to get any points.?  Yet, that "X" number is different everywhere I read.   Do you know the current rule?  I have been working to post public info for Localism in my area, and I guess my last post is "over the limit" to be awarded any points.  I am new .....yet learning.

Christine - 10 posts in a week is all you get for points.  Now you mentioned that you've been working on adding to localism - that's great.  May I suggest then that the points don't matter?  I don't think the points matter anyway but especially in localism.   So which one of your posts did you want to mention here?

Mike, thanks for giving us another chance. I am new to AR and wrote my 1st post trying to get a better insight of how to balance the Internet exposure that we are all seeking with sharing and potentially disclosing weaknesses or vulnerabilities. I thought that there may be other Newbies pondering the same issues and perhaps holding back from writing. I would have liked to receive some guidance from the veterans, but did not get much of a response. Quite honestly, I still don't understand how people find posts. Thanks again for the second chance. However in all seriousness, I have shaken my head in amazement with numerous posts you have made that did not get featured...especially when I saw the posts that where featured. Mike - I just had this happen to me with 2 different blogs.  The first one was my attempt to add a little creativity to my blog aimed at guiding homebuyers and the homebuying process.  It is ironically titled The One That Got Away.  The information in the blog should be helpful and I would have appreciated having some people share their stories.

The second blog is a much more serious and important blog.  It is a call to all Active Rainers to unite and help support a great cause.  There have been some comments, but far fewer than I would have expected given the call to action.  It has received viewers but very few commitments.  I would really appreciate it if people would check out We Have The Power To Raise Over $400K For Karen George with an open heart and open mind.

I'm not going to complain about lack of comments but I am always interested to see which of my posts get more comments than others.  The ones that get the most aren't always the ones I would expect.  Perhaps it is the unpredictable nature of this process that makes it fun...at least to me!

Diane - How about readers?  Which post might you have wished you had more readers for?  Some of my posts are written almost as read only.  Do I really want 50 comments of "Great post, bookmarked for later!" ?  Not at all.

If all they want are the points for commenting they can have mine.  Better yet they could cruise the new Member lists. What Happened?  I know that's not exactly what you are referring to.

I want to read quality posts, I want to have quality comments and have intelligent quality conversations.  But sometimes, it's just about the eyeballs - are people reading this stuff or am I writing in a vacume?

Holy Moly Mike, thanks! I will visit those posts that you mentioned that are having the same problem I am having "nobody noticed my posts" and "and why? what's wrong" is my first question.   I have wondered why my good posts are not being commented on.  Never mind being "featured".  Dull I guess. I'll try harder.  Thanks for the mention.

My main concern is there are so many short sale popping up and more to come and I wrote on short sales - makes me wonder is there enough out there on foreclosures and short sale already... or what?  Here are my posts that hardly received any attention!

Short Sale Information

  1. Its a Short Sale...Take the steps!  - Step by step from listing before the offer
  2. Its a Short Sale... You have an Offer! ....Take the next steps. - Step by step once you get the offer
  3. Short Sale - List the Process - Informing the sellers/buyers of the process
  4. Short Sale - Important Information for a successful sale - what to put in the MLS listing to protect you!
  5. Hardship or not? that is the question.... - about qualifying for a hardship
  6. A little more time.....  - a cliff hanger story of what can happen during the foreclosure process
  7. BPO Walk thru -- then what??  - A little information on how BPOs work for short sale

Gosh! I could go on but I won't.  I'll just invite visitors to go to my Mother and Daughter Blog and read and comment, please.

Thanks Mike! You're cool.

Mike

I think the more relationships you make with people by writing comments and visiting consistently --you develop a following.

Mike - you have a post here with a smiley on it. I clicked on one a while back and posted the following as a result.

Whoa! Wait a minute! Is this for real! This smiley was found in a post comment which we clicked on and it took us here to smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZCxdm613YYUS. When we arrived we received a warning from our Internet security program. This was found on the blog http://activerain.com/blogsview/169780/Realtor-Finds-Entourage-onthe smiley was Holy Moly
