Tomball TX Yard Angel! Tomball TX Yard Angel- side view

I saw this Tomball TX Yard Angel the other day and loved the way she is holding the Dove in her hands.  After doing my bible study this morning she came to mind so I drove by and took her picture.  I don't know that I have ever studied about Doves and their significance in burnt offerings but that was where the bible took me this morning.

I found out that Turtledoves and pigeons are symbols of mourning innocence and are associated with poverty in the Old Testament. The study went back and forth from Old and New Testament and spoke of him (Jesus Christ) who for our sake became poor.  His pathway of poverty began with emptying himself of his preincarnate glory to be born in to poverty and ended in the sacrifice through which we became rich.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

I love the way this Dove is getting ready to soar out of the Angel's hand!  I hope you enjoy the Tomball TX yard angel also.

Very interesting piece from the Old Testament Marchel. And in the New Testament doves are symbols of the Holy Spirit.

Marchel - That's an amazing yard sculpture.  Someone has a really creative or inspired mind.  I was curious about what the dove was constructed of!  The symbology of doves is vast.  Not only do they carry the significance of the old testiment scripture you mention, they also symbolize peace and the holy spirit.

Marchel  Thank you for your insight - doves have both a historical and religious history

GARY, It is amazing all the significance that Doves have!

MYRL, It appeared that the Dove was metal.  I think one of my favorite Dove references was when Jesus was baptized.

KAREN, I found the references in the Old Testament very interesting.  I knew Doves were used for sacrifice but didn't know the history.

CARL and CEIL, Wouldn't it be fun to have this sculpture in your front yard.  What a lovely reminder!

CHERISE, I knew this was a little bold but between the pastor's sermon and my bible study this morning I felt compelled to write the post.

TONY, Isn't that great yard art!!

Hi Marchel, Beautiful and always timely. One of my favorite verses. One note about doves. They mate for life and once they have agreed to be each others mate, when the first fly together,  it is wing tip touching wing tip. Many who have seen it claim their wings are actually griping other as would be hand holding hand. I have seen it only once and they were touching but could not verify if they were actually griping each others wings. But it was really a sight to see.

I've always thought topiaries were so pretty, this would be really pretty at Christmas too.  What are the chances a white dove would be in the hands!
