Cancer is a Scary thing

Cancer is a Scary thing.  Even while surrounded by friends and family it becomes a lonely path for the person for whom the bell has tolled.  I am thankful for my good health and yours and saddened by the news that this is not the case for everyone I know.

Life is precious to each of us and taken for granted by most of us until such time as mortality rears its face leaving us trembling at its sight.  We shake our heads, shutter in revulsion and thank heaven for it not being our plight.  We are sympathetic, empathetic and at times even pathetic with how we respond to the challenges we witness in the experiences of another.

Imagine for a moment that the shoe were on your foot this time.  Would you not be pleased to have people you know and don't know coming out of the woodwork with good wishes, prayers and thoughts of love and strength to bless your journey through the darkness that surrounds your days?  Would you not feel a debit of gratitude to each and every one of them?  Would you not think that the total energy that comes from such good wishes and prayers and thoughts of love and strength might possibly become a source of strength to you as you face your trials?

If you put yourself in someone else's shoes for just a brief moment you open your heart to an outpouring of the most magical substance in the universe.  Love knows no bounds, it can heal everything.

I am asking you to this moment step into the shoes of another, be brave and offer some of your magic to bless the day of another.  Please visit my post http://activerain.com/blogsview/168545/Fire-in-The-Rain and join my effort to bring some sunshine into the days of a fellow Active Rainer.

Darrel,

Yes, cancer is a scary thing not only for the patients but for their loved ones as well.  A little over a year ago my mom discovered she had breast cancer.  Fortunately, they were able to remove the tumor and she got a clean bill of health.  However, she just went in for a MRI on her lungs and the Dr. called her in today to speak with her.  She told me they had given her a copy and she could tell herself that it didn't look good. I am currently waiting to hear back from her and I can tell you that I am very scared.

Christi, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your mom.  Thank you for stopping by and sharing.  I just this week ran into a lady who wrote a book on her experiences with breast Cancer, its called In Honor of Women.  In speaking with her she told me of her research into the women who come down with this, it seems that in virtually every case the women were great Givers.  The lesson she shared with me was that to recover successfully the women needed to learn to be receivers and stop giving so much of their essence.

I plan to get the book next time I am out.

Please go to the post I referenced and participate in my Healing Thoughts Project, I am certain that we can direct some of this beautiful energy to your mom.

Cyndee, So wonderful for you to come by and leave your kind thoughts.  I agree, Karen is a top drawer lady, one of many here on the rain.

Thanks for your part in this.

Thanks for the kind words.  I would like to see our brilliant scientists  come up with a way to effectively stop cancer in it's tracks.  Now that would be an awesome contribution to science.  I will check out Karen's blog and send good thoughts her way.

Darrell, Cancer SUCKS!!  Have you seen those t-shirts and pins?  My father is in horrible health, part in due to cancer and its been a difficult struggle watching him struggle for life, he doesn't give up, he isn't going to give up, we aren't going to give up because miracles happen every day and we are his cheerleaders, his support -- they go through so many emotions, it is hard to take the rollercoaster sometimes, but as you say, step in their shoes -- he is scared, not of meeting his maker, he knows the Lord, his soul, mind and heart knows the Lord, but he just isn't ready to let go -- he has a lot of living left to do.  So, it is important to step in their shoes -- you get a far different picture of life and how precious it is.

You are so right Sondra, cancer does suck.  I am sorry to hear of your fathers struggles, it seems that I am learning that there are many in our community who are dealing with such issues.  By taking a proactive stance we give those who struggle strength.  Thank you for joining in our project and I am sure many who come here and see this will send love and strength to your father as I shall now.  Sharing in this way is so natural to me, I hope many more come aboard.

Kathleen, Wow! Thank you for your kind and powerful words and prayers.   I feel we are a community of connected beings and as such if we just take a moment of reflection upon that connection we all benefit from it.  Thank you for taking your precious time and joining me in this endeavor.

Darrel-Cancer is horrible period and especially if there is nothing that can be done.  I know as my husband suffers from brain cancer.  One of the bravest and strongest people I know.  While modern science is making progess it is still too slow.  Everyday more and more people are being diagnosed and suffering.  Karen and her husband are so brave.  I pray for them every night.  Your post is beautiful.  You are fighting for those who can't.  Kudo's to you!

Great post Darrel...

My mom battled Synovial Sarcoma for 7.5 years.  They found it in her right foot and she had a below the knee amputation.  She never gave up.  The stories I have to tell of her bravery, courage and faith in the Lord would fill the pages of books.  I miss her so much, but everyday I find that I am still learning from her and the way she lived her life and faced her challenges.  She went to be with the Lord December 2 last year.  It still feels like yesterday...Thanks for the post. I will have to check out the link to your other blog.  I will keep those that battle with cancer in my prayers.

Warm Regards,

Joy
