1st Posting since late May, 2010 ... from Ocean City, New Jersey

Trying to catch up on all of my real estate obligations and events, but my recent bypass operation has slowed me down.  So let me first call to everyone's attention the need to keep a much sharper connection to one's health.  I thought that I was doing that to some extent, or maybe I just thought that I was still in the shape I'd been in my late 40s as I moved into my late 60s.  Regardless, I was lucky because although it was a serious operation, my heart came though like a champion.  It's been about 19 days since the operation, and here I am sending out my first posting.

What I've discovered is that it is important to maintain "perspective," ... to understand just a bit more what life is all about.  It's also important to be aware of "friends," ... those in your job location who can cover for you, those in your neighborhood who care about you, and so many others that you interact with daily in your job and life.  I've gained insights about this as I sat in the hospital, sat in our family room, and reflected on what happened, where I was, and where I'm going.

I also realize the importance of family ... my wife, Leslie, and our son, Nick.  Nick flew in from California and plans to spend 3 weeks with us.  Since he works at home, he has also been working here via computer and phone connections across the country and the world.  Leslie has spent a lot of time taking care of me and monitoring phone calls.   Nick has moved all of my technology stuff from the office to our home.  It doesn't mean that I am getting back in the saddle again ... but it does mean that I won't have a ton of frustrations worrying about what has already been done for me.

I'm taking the summer off to get my health back, to relax and get a complete understanding of it all.  But as many of you know, as real estate agents, no one waits around for you.  So I have maintained connections, plus other agents are assisting me and I am willing to pay them accordingly.  Since my illness, I have gotten two new sale listings, have people monitoring my summer rentals throughout the Saturdays here in our resort community in Ocean City, NJ, and finally, four different agents have gone to my four lingering closings getting the job done.

So as I conclude my initial thoughts, I would say go and get a "check-up," watch your blood pressure,  and do find time for exercise ... particularly a nice long walk each evening.  In spite of most of the above, I still had my event ... but I've turned the corner and my life will be forever different for the experience.
