Since Paula Hamilton began her affiliation with Active Rain on February 12, 2010, she and I have deeply connected through this blogosphere instrument.
Yesterday, as Paula and her husband Dave, were passing through Denver to a Young Life camp near Winter Park, Gordon and I met up with them for lunch at California Café.
Needless to say, our meeting was Active Rain’s version of Match.com. In fact, it was unreal how close our friendship had already developed through blogging and facebook. And what I found unusual is how all four of us seemed to get along so well. Normally, it seems like couple friendships are sometimes lopsided in which one spouse gets along better with another couple versus the other.
But in our case, it was like fitting a square peg into a square cut-out. We meshed terrifically, freely and easily sharing personal subjects about suffering, faith, overcoming obstacles, family, and we were genuinely committed to grow a true friendship between our families though the Hamiltons live in The Woodlands and we reside in Colorado Springs.
I’m sorry I do not have any pictures of us for this blog. Unbelievably, my battery ran out on my Nikon camera. But not to worry, Paula came equipped so I imagine she’ll post some photographs on her blog of our time together.
In closing, we had a very pleasant visit and look forward to walking out life more fully with the Hamiltons in the future. Now when I comment on Paula’s blog, I can connect even more deeply, putting an optimistic face with her typed out thoughts. I can hear her Southern drawl already…
