Take a "Refreshing" Pepsi break and you'll GIVE KIDS THE WORLD!!!!
The Pepsi Refresh Project is giving away over $1,000,000 each month to fund great ideas. For example, in April, grants were given to a community correctional house for materials to help prepare students to take their GED($25,000), and funds to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation ($250K) to develop an alternative cancer treatment with fewer side effects.
Give Kids the World is hoping to win a $250,000 grant to be used to replace and repair wheelchair accessible bathrooms, replace refrigerators and dishwashers in the villas, replace 42 old air conditioning units, just to name a few of the wishes.
By voting, each day until the end of June, you can help get them closer to winning that grant!
All you have to do is Vote Each Day For GKTW!
Please take just 2 minutes to learn more about a wonderful place I have been fortunate enough to visit. When my husband and I lived in Orlando, FL. his company chose GIVE KIDS THE WORLD as their charity to support. Through donations and the support of company volunteers, they refurbished some of the small villas in Give Kids the World that house the children and their families.
GIVE KIDS THE WORLD was established in 1989 by a wonderful man, Henri Landwirth, whose own story reads like something out of a Stephen Spielberg movie. He is the survivor of multiple concentration camps during WWII and after emigrating to America he eventually ended up opening a Holiday Inn franchise near the main gate of a little known park called Disney World! After a young girl, Amy, died before Mr.Landwirth was able to fulfill her wish of seeing the theme parks in Orlando, he vowed that no child in need would ever be failed again.
GIVE KIDS THE WORLD provides children with life threatening illnessesand their families with the wish fulfillment of seeing Disney World and other area attractions. Many arrive at the GKTW village via organizations such as the "Make a Wish Foundation"and come from not only all 50 states but over 70 countries as well. The families are cared for the moment they arrive in Orlando and are housed at the GIVE KIDS THE WORLD Village where all of their needs and wishes are provided for, from a private villa for the family, on-site meals provided by Perkins Family Restaurants, and ice cream from Friendlys.
Mayor Clayton and Ms Merry preside over the Village where Christmas is celebrated once a week each Thursday night. There are facilities there, designed by former Disney employees, for those children who are unable to make the trip to some of the theme parks. And, parents are also given some much deserved and needed time off to relax and recoup.
Even if you choose not to Vote, please take just a minute to learn more about this unsung and often forgotten charitable friend to these beautiful children and their families.
