Summer has started here in Minneapolis officially, but we started playing like it was summer the day the ice went out on our lakes. After so many months of cold and snow we play hard during the spring and summer months. The city of Minneapolis has so much to offer, that we don't have to go far to play.
Within the city of Minneapolis we have 7 lakes to swim, boat, fish, and build sand castles at. Imagine walking or biking to recreate at a lake. People play in the water, fish, boat, eat, or have a fun game of volleyball by the lakeside. Many of our lakes have paths around them for jogging, biking, inline skating or just strolling with your strollers. Lake Harriet in the heart of Southwest Minneapolis has band concerts most nights and on Sunday mornings you will find a casual worship service going on.
Minnehaha Creek goes through Southwest Minneapolis and offers the opportunity to bike or jog along it or get in the canoe and paddle down it. Right now the current is flowing nicely, so I imagine you can do lots of floating. The creek ends up at Minnehaha Falls which is a splashing good time. The park there has lots to do.
Most weekends there is something going on in the parks, outside concerts downtown, many cafés to eat at, the farmer's market to stroll through, a Twins baseball game to attend, festivals, races, and so much more. Rain or shine Minneapolis has so much to offer its residents or visitors.
