20th RI National Guard Open House and Air Show June 26 & 27- North Kingstown RI at the Quonset State Airport is revving up for a fabulous weekend of fun in the sky and down below. An air show is an event at which aviators display their flying skills and the capabilities of their aircraft to spectators in aerobatics. If you have never been before it is an amazing day of entertainment on the ground with the aircraft displays that you can go on & into and experience. It gives kids of all ages a chance to see close up what our military personnel use in the air protecting our country. Then the amazing aerial shows are just happening all day entertaining everyone. It is a world class show for all.
This RI National Guard Air Show is rated as one of the Top Three Air Shows in the country so it's no wonder that it draws between 50,000 to 70,000 visitors to it each day!! Even the performers and military contributors have commented that the RI brand of hospitality keeps them coming back to our little state year after year to demonstrate their appreciation to their hosts. What a nice thing for RI to be remembered for.
Being on the tarmac and watching the aerial displays, maneuvers and just the amazing speed of these aircraft is an experience. You need to enjoy it with family and/or friends this year. You can bring chairs and umbrellas to sit in and shield yourself from the sun. Be aware that this is a military base and all bags will be searched upon entrance. No coolers allowed. There is no charge for this air show but a requested $10 donation per car goes to support local RI Charities with the largest one being Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence RI. Over $1.5 million has been raised for charities over the years.
The RI National Guard Air Show opens its gates at 9 a.m. with the shows beginning at 10 a.m. and the new interstate connector from Route 4 brings you directly to the Quonset Airport by car.
One of my RI real estate clients is a Rhode Island Air National Guard member and she is working hard this weekend to make things run smoothly with an amazing support team. So I wish them all success because the RI Air National Guard plans all year for this event and its success.
My favorite USAF Thunderbirds will be making their appearance both days along with a host of others. In fact this week we will see them in the Rhode Island skies practicing and performing which is a thrill in itself for me. Personally it is great time off to stand on the beach and watch them overhead as they do their pre-show during the week for the locals.
