Here is a blog I sure don't want to write.  My Ent guy wanted to do some laser surgery to get the last of the cancer out of my throat.  I wanted a second opinion and found the number 1 Ent  Dr in the state.  My wife and I met with her this morning.  She looked at all of my records, tests, x-rays, scans etc and then looked in my throat.  She said the cancer could not be removed with laser surgery and I would have to have a complete layrngectomy .  That is not the news I wanted to start my weekend.

She did say that, when she removed my layrnex she could install an artificial voice box that will allow me to talk and will allow me to continue my career.  The operation and recovery will require me to be in the hospital for about 2 weeks.

We are looking at doing this operation around the 1st of Sept.  I will keep you all posted and I really appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Good Luck, Good Lending and Aloha

Dear Bruce and Linda,

I know this can't be easy for either of you, but I can tell by both of your writings how strong you are and what wonderful people you are.

The fact that you are still able to work Bruce and be "healed" with this surgery is a very good thing even though I realize it was not what you wanted. But again, if this is what it takes to get well, I am sure this is better than the alternative.

My prayers are with you both,

Be well and be happy,  Wendy

Bruce, not the news any of us wanted to read either.  You and Linda are in my thoughts and prayers.  Once you're 100% again, we'll schedule the Active Rain  Bruce Bourgault Hot Dog Celebration!  :)   You once mentioned the name of a loan officer you worked with here in San Antonio -- what is her name and how to I contact her?

Bruce, my heart goes out to you and your family.  It seems like this is the week for cancer on the AR community.  I have been writing good wishes to many of our brothers and sisters here.  I pray that you have great success with the surgery and a speedy recovery.  My thoughts are with you.

God bless

Bruce, you stay in my prayers.  I expect you to be one of those amazing success stories of someone who has come back and triumphed when all looked lost.  (Actually, all doesn't look lost -- it sounds hopeful to me!)  You have the spirit for it, and a huge fanbase in AR.  Hang in there!!

Bruce & Linda, I saw the title and knew this wasn't the best of news, but relieved once I read it that it wasn't the worst of news either. I read Linda's comment and am confident with her love & support and the love, support and prayers of all your friends around the nation you will do just fine. My prayers are with you both also.

Bruce although I can not fathom what you are experiencing I have seen another friend who had cancer of her nasal cavity.  She had to have her palate removed.  This was 36 years ago.  As technology increased over the many years her prognosis got better and better as did her prosthetic palate.  Technology today is so advanced that there is so much out there that we just don't know about.  I am sure your doctor is doing her best as she know you want to continue your career and will only provide you with the latest technology available.  I wish you luck and you are in my prayers.
