Thanks to Margaret for putting together this great list of fun things to do in Bowie, MD.

Bowie BaysoxHow lucky are we to have the Bowie Baysox right here in Bowie MD, not to mention the fact that we live about a half hour from major league baseball in both Washington, D.C. and Baltimore!

No list of Fun Things to Do in Bowie MD would be complete without telling you about our very own Class-AA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles in the Eastern League.  Their home is the Prince George's Stadium, located off MD Route 301 near the intersection with MD Rt. 50 and 3.

Since opening in July 1994, the stadium has hosted two AA All-Star games (2000 and 2004), the annual Allen Iverson Celebrity Softball Classic, the 2002 MLL Lacrosse All-Star Game, the U.S. Congressional Ball Game for charity, the Maryland Terps Baseball Team during renovations at their home field in College Park, and the 2008 USA Women's Olympic Softball Team.  The Bowie Baysox have been great neighbors, also opening their stadium to various community groups for yard sales, movie nights, concerts and even a Halloween Haunted House.  Nearly every game, hundreds of tickets are sold by one community group or another as fundraisers for their favorite project or philanthropy.

Bowie Baysox 6.18.10 - Photo Copyright Margaret WodaIt seems like the Baysox have a special promotion at every game, whether it's honoring veterans of the Negro League (last weekend) or offering special ticket prices for Daddy-Daughter night (June 30).  We watched the Baysox beat the Harrisburg Senators last Friday (5-4), which just happened to be Scout night (including an on-field parade before the game and a camp-out in the outfield after the game).

You can enjoy Tailgate Tuesday Happy Hour any time the Baysox play at home on a Tuesday - Only $5 for General Admission tickets and $2 for a 12-oz. draft beer from 5-7 - complete with live entertainment most weeks by Terry Glaze

You'll often see fireworks after a Baysox game - and you'll definately see them after the Independence Day barbeque and game (vs. Aeros) on July 4.  If you don't reallly care about all that and just want to watch some good baseball, there's no place like home - home plate, that is, at the Bowie Baysox home stadium in Bowie MD.

LIKE Bowie Baysox Facebook Fan Night, and watch the game on Monday, June 28, from a luxury suite and enjoy an hour-long buffet of hot dogs, pulled chicken barbecue sandwiches, fresh farmer's cole slaw, chips, watermelon, lemonade and iced tea for just $15.  The game is a double-header, beginning at 5:35 p.m.
