When web advertising began, people would literally pay for a set of eyeballs... that was how what we now know as clicks were measured.

The funny thing is... a click was a worthless measure.  People got into time on the site, how they got to the site etc to determine the worth of their webware...

Now we have 3 blogs here that are definitely worthwhile reading... pay them with your eyeballs.

Real Estate Bloggers — Why Are You Blogging? What Currency Does Your Banker Accept?

By: Jeff Brown, BawldGuy.com

This is a post with such well crafted subtly that it disguises his screaming and scathing review of the tech-3L33t who at Inman felt the need to snort at a couple of our fellow-blogger's feats of SEO and Lead Generation while they were a little more than impressed with their own tech-journalism more for its pure, bohemian worth...

Reminiscent of the arrival in the Alphabet City Cafe of Benny in RENT (another Bawldy) who was labeled a sell-out by his former, fellow-bohemians, Benny had learned to take his knowledge of his local market and turn it into a positive cash flow situation.  Sure, he married a rich girl with an Akita ... but he was stepping on the stones to real estate fortune.

We bloggers need to not only write with the conviction and passion of the bohemian set... but we need to figure out why we are writing.

Is it for the self-serving, narcissism of saying you're a top blogger with oodles of points, clicks and readers... or is the real value of the blog based in its intrinsic lead generating ability?

Is it in the $$ dollar signs... or in the expression of the muse?

Some say both... but why do YOU blog?

or better yet... do you really have time to blog for free??

you know what??... we must also learn as blog-readers to decipher the author's intent... and base their merits on their intended outcomes!

How to Clean Up The Mortgage Industry and Satisfy Consumers With One RESPA Amendment

By: Jeff Corbett, The XBroker

This Jeff has already proven himself to be quite controversial here on ActiveRain ... and I'll say Kudos to my man, the only blogger I've read to date that can get away with writing "What the F*%$?" in his blog and not losing a reader.

Jeff is a man on a mission and his mission is Transparency in the Mortgage Industry.  He likes the idea of full disclosure mainly because he's been a banker and a broker and hates seeing that people are biting on a loan for a hair of a % better or a dime less in closing costs rather than by the individual merits of the Broker in question... aka his/her Honesty, Integrity, Knowledge and Skills in his/her industry.

There will always be those that say that the consumer doesn't need to know everything... but those are the just some of the hapless commentators that Jeff will eventually pick apart in a battle of wits and make them look completely unarmed.

Now... while this wisenheimer may not agree with every technique that Jeff espouses... I still think his blog is worth every bit of a gander or two in order to fully understand what lack of disclosure is doing to your clients when they're shopping for a home or refinancing.

After reading this, you might want to tell them off for using someone NOT on your preferred lender list!.... which will likely be shuffled after you ask your mortgage partners some questions that arise thanks to this post.

by: Rachel DollarThe Mortgage Fraud Blog

Growing up, I remember all sorts of kids my age that would rent a series of movies called "Faces of Death" that were supposedly real death scenes by horrific means all put into a horror film/documentary style.

Well... if you really want to see something scary, check out Rachel Dollar's Mortgage Fraud Blog.  Rachel is an attorney by trade and is also a licensed Mortgage Banker.  Her niche blog is strictly about Mortgage Fraud cases and the news sources reporting them.

There are two ways to look at this blog - as an outsider from lending (i.e. consumer, realtor, etc...) or as an insider (i.e. someone in lending).

Outsider view:

Wow... there are sooooo many people committing fraud in so many devious and egregious manners.  I didn't even know that half of these things were illegal.... but that guy was sentenced to 10 years for it!

Insider view:

Wow... I can sort all these miscreants by state!

And look at that! Fremont, Argent, Wells Fargo...I know those lenders!  Wow... this says a lot for how much these underwriters are missing in a loan file.

Haha... that underwriter missed a $17,000,000 judgement and approved a $23,000,000 loan (actual case)!  That just shows what filling out two check boxes on a 1003 wrong can amount to!

If you're one of those people that likes to see their acquaintances in the Police Blotter or gossip at the Barber shop... or one of those reality TV junkies that loves the roller coaster custody hearings of DannieLynn Smith or Britney Spears... this is a site for you.

Just from an educational perspective... this is a great site to get an RSS feed from for your personal reading.  Look at how people are pulling off Mortgage Fraud so your own clients don't do it to you.

Remember - the State and Federal Governments do not have an Ignorance Plea.  If you're licensed, you're in deep doo doo...

On Monday August 6, 4 Indicted in Los Angeles Property-Flipping Scheme shows that Mortgage Fraud is many times perpetrated without the help of a Mortgage Originator!!  In this case Realtors with a California Prudential Franchise and their Appraisers were falsifying applications and inflating values in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, and Malibu. I guess it is easier to hide money in a bigger pile!

Done so soon?  These are definitely subscription worthy blogsites... they're not all making money for your eyes on their pages but I am sure they don't mind the plug anyway.

Blog on Wayne!

Blog on Garth!

David, that mortgage fraud blog is fascinating and dark; I saved it to favorites and will have to remember to read it when it's light outside lol. Thanks for the list.

Juan - thanks for stopping by... now bring me a buyer!!!

Chris - thanks!  I'm addicted to Mortgage Fraud now... I'm the "I can't believe you can sort these cretins by state" type :)

Carole - hehe... unfortunately it is a better police blotter than you'll see in your own paper.  Maybe if more people knew about it, then you'd have more people thinking first before screwing around with our industry!
