Special offer

I got a call earlier this afternoon from a local television station looking for some input on a story they were doing on why housing sales were down so much.

Locally our sale are not down and in fact have been pretty good all year long so I agreed to be interviewed.

My 15 seconds of fame

"The prices are going up, but market time is staying about the same," Lee said

So, if you want to avoid the price slump, take this advice:

"If you've got a house for sale and you get an offer now... you need to look very kindly at that offer, no matter what it is, and try to make that work," Lee said."

The whole interview lasted about 15 minutes and I had bunches of data from our local association as well as some stuff from NAR but the video portion got edited down to 3, 5 second sound bites.

I watched the interview on our 11 o'clock news and I think my points about our solid local market came through in spite of the reporter that lead into the story titing it "Home Sales are Down, a local Realtor explains why".

My family was once interview by a news reporter about some issue, and that's when I first noticed first hand how they chop up what you say and use the main key points.  The only thing that bothers me about this is the possibility of thoughts or opinions to be misconstrued.

I have been interviewed by several magazines, newspapers, and TV since Katrina. This was all related to my internet exposure. You tlak for 15-20 minutes for a couple of sentences. The local TV was easier and di nothing to prepare for my 15 seconds of fame. i said with the Saints winning it will make people happy to buy homes.

Thank God they asked you as you are always professional!

I get irritated when a inadequate agent gets quoted for something and has it all wrong or makes no sense at all and makes our profession look bad.

Good for you and heres to hoping your phone rings today with business!
