Vancouver, WA Weather--O.k. RAIN!!!
Here in Vancouver, Washington (Clark County) we have a cliche about the weather here saying "We have only winter... and August" but that's really not true.  From Wikipedia about our local weather: "Rainfall occurs frequently throughout the fall, winter, and spring, but ceases around the middle of June, with dry and warm weather lasting through September. Average annual precipitation is 42 inches. Heavy snowfalls are infrequent and snow often falls and doesn't stick, with major snowstorms only occurring every 2–4 years."  And, even though some people think the weather here is dismal and gray in the winter, it's the rain and snow that make our landscapes, mountains and topography so gorgeously green! It's all this rain that gives us awesome green mountain trails to hike, rivers to kayak, windsurf and fish for steelhead and salmon! The rain also gives us lush gardens and great landscaping for our homes!Come See Vancouver WA Lush Gardens

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes!
Our taxes are much lower than our relative Portland, Oregon across the Columbia River from us. The people of Oregon WISH they lived here. And very often they do move over here and commute to work. A trip that is usually only a 15-30 minutes drive since our traffic isn't too bad most days. Here's a snippet from the USA article June 22nd, 2010 that touts our lower taxes:

By Christine Dugas, USA TODAY

"Vancouver, Wash., is often confused with Vancouver, British Columbia. And it doesn't get as much attention as nearby Portland, Ore., on the other side of the Columbia River.  Although there are more jobs in Portland, Vancouver's real estate market has some advantages that bring many homeowners across the river. "It has more of a small-town feel, and houses are more affordable," says Linda McClellan, president of the Clark County Association of Realtors. Also, Washington doesn't charge income tax, and those who work in Portland and live in Vancouver are not as hard hit by Oregon's state income tax. And the real estate tax is cheaper, McClellan says."

Things to Do in Vancouver, WA and the Columbia Gorge
Depending on what you like...you'll never be bored here. Even with the rain, people get used to it and just go have fun. When I looked around for a good website to offer about things to do here I liked this website best because it has hotels, tours, sites and outdoor activities too for both locales: Vancouver, WA and the Columbia Gorge.

Check us out! We're a great, clean place to live. Relocate to Vancouver, WA and enjoy our Pacific Northwest way of life. Call me! I can give you insight on our real estate market, jobs and places to go!

Next summer, I hope to start my quest for a summer-home. Because of  friends in Oregon, I thought I'd start there in what will probably be a 2-summer excursion.

This post is an example of what those considering a relocation are looking for insofar as information. Thanks.
