Pearland is the 34th fastest growing suburb in the United States according to an article in Forbes magazine.
The Houston suburb also is 10th in Texas and first in the greater Houston area.
Pearland's population has increased 100 percent in seven years. By 2011, the estimated population is predicted to soar to 120,000 residents.
Since 2000, retail sales in Pearland have increased more than 85 percent to more than $1 billion annually.
Retail growth has had a similar spurt as Pearland experienced a major surge in retail with the launch of three, high-quality projects that will add a combined 1.9 million square feet of new retail to the city.
