I came across an interesting website from Forbes.com that shows where Americans are moving, county by county. By the looks of the map, it appears that more people are moving out of Cook County than are moving in. These are the lastest numbers and are from 2008.
The site does not provide numbers, just a visual that shows the in and out movement. In another study of migration from Realtor.Org, Cook County receives the majority of new residents from DuPage, Will and Lake counties. Strangely, Cook County also loses most residents to those same three counties.
The two out-of-state counties that lost residents to us are Lake County in Indiana and Los Angeles County in Los Angeles. While 1271 Los Angeles households moved to Cook County, 1762 Cook County residents left for Los Angeles.
To see a copy of this map, please go to: Where Americans Are Moving for Cook County. The map loads slowly, please be patient.
