Here's the background: I need exercise. I need vitamin D. I need sunshine. I need to sand/wade walk. I need a water fowl fix at least once a day. I abhor litter. I detest litter.

As an experienced multi-taker, I try to accomplish several things at once. For my walk on the beach at Long Beach Harbor, I put on a 1 piece swim suit, --very 50 something. I strap on a fanny pack so I will have my camera near, my cell phone near, pen and paper, and a few bcards. I tuck a store plastic shopping bag and a trashbag looped under my fanny pack. (Please keep in mind this is not professional time)

So, here I am soaking in the rays, perspiring profusely, and picking up trash. A beach visitor approaches me with a broken piece of glass. He said, "I see you are picking up trash, can you take this, too?" "Well sure." Then we got into a chat. He mentioned he was considering a modest retirement home because he loves it here. Did I know where to find some real estate books? "Well, shucks," I tell him. You can pick up real estate magazines at most stores; however, it might be easier for me to just send you properties that would work for you specifically. I may not appear to be a real estate broker, but I am. I gave him a bcard.

His son offered to help him with email. We were set. He went his way happy and I continued my trash-pick-up-sand-wade-walk.

It is just recently that I began carrying bcards on my beach exercise trips. I started doing so, not for business, but because I always end up talking to someone about something and we end up wishing one of us had something to write with and on.

I really do accomplish some normal real estate activities... My time at the beach is never intended to have a real estate purpose, but, should Providence make a match and indicate unusual circumstances are the right time and place; I will not argue.

*Long Beach Harbor, MS is in Harrison County.

Sounds like instant karma to me.  Perhaps there should be film crews filming people who leave their trash at the beach much like BP is leaving their oil.

Roy, Richard, Sharon, and Brenda--I made a pit stop by your blogs in reciprocation. Thanks for stopping by mine. I will say I am so serious about litter it has become a part time hobby/job?. I have visited Keep America Beautiful, and many other anti litter websites. I like the concept of PALS (People Against a Littered State). These are great organizations, but it doesn't seem to be working. I have a back burner plan for: http://pals-pick-up.com . I am collecting litter photos as you can see. I plan to approach some potential sponsors to assist me in a campaign from a positive angle, to include wrist bands, buttons, wooden nickels, bumper stickers and maybe t-shirts to give out to people who also abhor litter, to the ones who stop me and tell me "I hate litter, too". To tackle litter it needs to be a daily pick-up of many people, not a quarterly pick up, or annual semi-annual event. I am convinced that gauging by the number of people that stop me while I am picking up trash--that if people are seen actually picking up trash--it can make a difference. I see much less littering now in the area I patrol, than in the past. I also believe that if we can impress children by setting an example rather than just depending on class room presentations or parental instruction--we might make difference. Even if no one else ever picked up any one else's litter, if they just pick up their own, that will make a difference.

PALS-Pick-Up . What do you think? Maybe--Be a PAL, Pick-up.

Thanks, Tiffany. Maybe one reason I am so drawn to my beach walks is that I am always blessed in one way or another. This is a friendly promenade. I don't tend to work up adrenalyn because I chat with so many people. The harbor is loaded with a cornecopia cross section of people. When I take "un-named people shots", you can see children to the elder age enjoying the beach, a cross section of races, cultures, and ages.
