You Have to Give a Crap!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Jared James Enterprises

I know this is not the kind of title that I would usually lead with but it is the best expression of exactly what I am feeling right now. Either by talking to agents myself, or hearing stories from my coaches, I get to hear story after story of what is working for certain Realtors and in many cases the failure that so many others are experiencing. This may sound like more of a vent than anything but I truly do mean it to help someone out there. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU KNOW EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD ABOUT REAL ESTATE... IN THE END YOU HAVE TO GIVE A CRAP ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOU ARE REPRESENTING!

I can give you every sales strategy and system to follow to automate your business but there is something that has gone by the wayside with too many people in service oriented industries that rely on their clients for a living and that something is true and genuine care. When people know that you genuinely care for them and their needs they will stand on a mountain top and scream your name to the masses whenever possible. You will never have to worry about client retention or making a mistake because clients that know that you care will do whatever they need to do to ensure that their family and friends use you and will be more concerned with protecting you when you make a mistake than they will be with attacking you in your vulnerability.

Great ideas, Great Systems, Great Business Models, even a great staff doesn't mean anything if you don't care about the people that you are supposed to be helping. This has helped me more as a coach than almost anything else that I could know. I used to worry about what to say and how to say it and how it would come across until a wise man told me to stop worrying because the content was there. I knew plenty about what to say. More important was how I said it and did I care about the person on the other line that was supposed to implement what I was saying or had they become just another number or coaching client. I refuse to let it happen and so should you!

We were talking about this same concept with nurses recently.

You can always tell the difference between those to whom it's just a job, and those who really care.

Thanks all for commenting. It is such a simple fact but there are so few people that actually get it.

I have been told by real estate agents that I spend to much time on my clients. I heard once and love the saying " real estate is about the people not the paycheck."

I know I have a lot to learn since I have only been a realtor since March 2008, but helping people with their real estate needs is the easy part. .

Great comment. Just remember that caring about your clients does not always mean spending too much time with them. You still want to be efficient because ultimately you care about your family too and want to make sure you have time for them at the end of the day. Your attitude is spot on though! I see you are with RE/MAX. You should check out RE/MAX University. I recently did the "Coaching Hall of Fame Series" for them. It is called "7 Ways to Grow Your Business NOW!" I think you would get a lot out of it especially being newer. If you are interested go to www.jaredjamestoday.com and sign up for our email updates as well as we do free seminars and Webinars all the time that you could benefit from.

Have a great day!
