Eye of Iris

Iris’ are an amazing flower. They seem to come in an endless variety of colors and color combinations. Looking down into the eye of the Iris reveals the intricate beauty of the face of nature.

The name Iris is appropriately taken from the Greek word for rainbow. When you look at the way the colors spread throughout the flower, the name really makes sense. The shape has a wondrous symmetry and elegance that radiate its beauty.

The photos below were taken from a mature Iris garden in North Boulder.

Jon, your photos are absolutely stunning.  They are such a beautiful flower and I love to see all the clumps in full bloom this time of year.

Really beautiful photos! My mother-in-law used to grow them and I would always go smell them; some of them have a really beautiful scent, and each one different, while others have none!
