Carlsbad Village has a New Wine Shop - Vintage Wine Shop and Taste the Grape Tasting Room

Vintage Wine Shop and Taste the Grape Tasting Room, opened about 1 month ago, is in the heart of the Village, adjacent to one of my favorite restaurants around, Le Passage, a charming French bistro on State Street just north of Carlsbad Village Drive. 

Vintage Wine Shop is so new they are still developing the website (it's TasteTheGrape.com), but this European-style wine shop and tasting room is well worth your visit (we popped in last night). There is a broad selection of wines, many French of course, but a host of Malbecs, Cabernets, and many others from some of the best wine-producing regions in the world. 

Vintage Wine Shop and Taste the Grape tasting room exude the same French charm found in the adjacent bistro, with walls of wooden wine racks, chandeliers, attractive seating and prints in the small tasting room, and an overall feel of a wine shop on a small side street in Paris. 

The neat thing about Vintage Wine Shop is  you can purchase their wine at their retail prices, which seem very fair to me, although not quite the bargains one finds at a BevMo (but you wouldn't expect that), then drink the wine at Le Passage for lunch or dinner for an $8 corkage fee. 

Wine tastings at Taste the Grape are, currently, Friday evenings - 6 samples for $12.

And on Wednesdays they offer $2 off a glass of wine in the restaurant. 

Vintage Wine Shop is a great addition to the heart of Carlsbad Village, and with the charming Le Passage for lunch and dinner, and their Carlsbad Chocolate Bar (stay tune for more on that fave).
