South Carolina's unemployment rate drops

http://www.charlestonbusiness.com/news/34723-south-carolina-rsquo-s-unemployment-rate-drops-to-11

Although South Carolina's unemployment rate dropped, the unemployment rate is still entirely too high.  The state government passed a bill to make our state more business friendly this week which will help attract businesses to SC.  This is a good step towards bringing more jobs to SC.

More initiatives need to be passed to help the current businesses in the state.  It is easier to grow the already existing businesses than it is to bring in new businesses.  Additionally, an existing business does not need start-up time.  Existing businesses are in place and are ready to hire now instead of a few months to years down the road.

That being said we do need to bring more businesses to SC.  Our state government has done a good job in recognizing this.  Boeing was definitely a homerun for a state (especially down here in Charleston).

We also have a lot of smaller businesses (employee number wise) opening up shop - http://www.charlestonbusiness.com/news/34752-new-import-business-comes-to-charleston.  This article does not depict a homerun or even a single; it is more of a walk.  Enough walks will score runs and win the game.

Jobs are the key to South Carolina's future, and we are moving in the right direction.

As someone who REMEMBERS Greenville being The Textile Center of the WORLD! I am glad to see that there is employment coming back to the state.  Hopefully new GOP gov can beat the bushes - our GOP VA Gov certainly has - new Rolls Royce plant and several other larger employers coming in with security and military subcontractors!!!

That is great for your area.  Jobs are definitely the driving force behind economic growth.  I have heard about those Greenville days, but I was not around for them.  Greenville has down a wonderful job transitioning their economy from one industry to another.
